The Washington Times : Trump rides issue of president’s birth [GOP poll puts him at No. 2]
The Washington Times ^ | April 10, 2011 | David Eldridge

Would-be 2012 Republican nominee Donald Trump is riding doubts about President Obama’s birth certificate to the front of the party’s presidential contender field, the latest sign that the long-standing fringe controversy is going mainstream.

The New York real estate magnate and reality show star, fresh off a Wall Street Journal poll that shows him tied for second among Republican voters as their choice for the presidential nominee, jumped back into the “birther” controversy Sunday.

“Why doesn’t he show his birth certificate? The fact is, if he wasn’t born in this country, he shouldn’t be the president of the United States,” the billionaire developer said in a CNN interview that aired Sunday. The Constitution requires that the president be a “natural-born citizen.”

“It’s a very sad thing, because the people - the birthers - they got labeled and they got labeled so negatively and even the word ‘birther’ is a negative word. If you come out and … even question, the press goes wild. They get angry at the question,” he said.

I see this poll reported all over the place and the story is always “Trump makes it into 2nd place” or some variation of that.

To me, the #1 story of the poll itself is this: Romney is polling #1.

That blows my mind. That totally and completely blows my mind.

Who the f* out there actually thinks Romney is good for ANYTHING???

I wouldn’t vote for that POS for dogcatcher and there are “Republicans” willing to list him as their top choice???

Who, who, who???

Tell me one thing Romney has done EVER that rates him that position in the polls and tell me ANYTHING he’s doing now to get any mention or notice whatsoever.

I guess the stupidity of the Republican voters is a kind of a mirror of the stupidity of the American voters who elected a Kenyan President.

There’s zero chance that Donald Trump would ever be hired by the American people,” he said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” taking a jab at Mr. Trump’s signature phrase on his reality show “The Apprentice.”

Wanna bet?

I am with you on this one and feel almost the same for Huck and Newt.

I will never pull the lever for any of those 3.

Number of freepers and pundits don’t get it. Main reason Trump will gain support is because he supports a non ideological approach to America call America First. Free trade freepers don’t like it because they cannot shed their civic duty to the US while they make money and Dems don’t like it because Trump is against their scheme to transfer the US into a EU socialist state by bypassing the US Constitution via internationalism. Trump is a populist many ways like Perot, Buchanan and Paul but his timing is perfect while the other men were too early. Trump will do well.

He was an effective and competent governor of MA. He was brought in by the Olympic committee and the State of Utah to salvage their Winter Olympics ... he turned a sorely mismanaged Olympic effort, ready to go tits up, into a resounding success. What the f*** has any other potential pubbie presidential candidate done? Zip ...

“Competent” governor of MA? Boy, that’s the first time I’ve ever heard him accused of having been that.

Anyway, I guess you answered my question. You’re out there. You and yours.

(We are so f*ing screwed.)

YOU live in Colorado and call Romney "effective"?

Stop lying

MITT ROMNEY - THE PROVEN BAD GOVERNOR

"As U.S. real output grew 13 percent between 2002 and 2006, Massachusetts trailed at 9 percent.
* Manufacturing employment fell 7 percent nationwide those years, but sank 14 percent under Romney, placing Massachusetts 48th among the states.
* Between fall 2003 and autumn 2006, U.S. job growth averaged 5.4 percent, nearly three times Massachusetts' anemic 1.9 percent pace.
* While 8 million Americans over age 16 found work between 2002 and 2006, the number of employed Massachusetts residents actually declined by 8,500 during those years.
"Massachusetts was the only state to have failed to post any gain in its pool of employed residents," professors Sum and McLaughlin concluded.
In an April 2003 meeting with the Massachusetts congressional delegation in Washington, Romney failed to endorse President Bush's $726 billion tax-cut proposal."

[Cato Institute annual Fiscal Policy Report Card - America's Governors, 2004.]

“The Massachusetts Republican Party died last Tuesday.
The cause of death: failed leadership.

The party is survived by a few leftover legislators
and a handful of county officials and grassroots activists
who have been ignored for years.
Services will be public and a mass exodus of taxpayers will follow.
In lieu of flowers, send messages to Republican voters
warning them about a certain presidential candidate named Romney.”
- Boston Herald, 11/12/2006

"In 2006, while Romney was chairman of the National Republican
Governors Association - a group dedicated to electing more
Republican governors - his own hand-picked Republican successor
as governor lost badly to the Democrat, despite the fact that Republicans
have held the governorship in Massachusetts since 1990. Romney largely
ignored the Massachusetts elections and spent most of the time
during the campaign out of state building his presidential campaign.
He came back and publicly campaigned for the Republican candidate
the day before the general election!
“Locally, this is a rebuke to Mitt Romney and checking out within six months
after being elected and having accomplished almost nothing,”

[Jim] Rappaport [former chairman of the state Republican Party]."
- Boston Globe, 11/8/2006

"Governor Mitt Romney, who touts his conservative credentials to out-of-state Republicans,
has passed over GOP lawyers for three-quarters of the 36 judicial vacancies he has faced
,
instead tapping registered Democrats or independents -- including two gay lawyers who
have supported expanded same-sex rights, a Globe review of the nominations has found.
Of the 36 people Romney named to be judges or clerk magistrates, 23 are either registered Democrats
or unenrolled voters who have made multiple contributions to Democratic politicians
or who voted in Democratic primaries, state and local records show.
In all, he has nominated nine registered Republicans, 13 unenrolled voters,
and 14 registered Democrats."
- Boston Globe 7/25/2005

Romney Rewards one of the State's Leading Anti-Marriage Attorneys by Making him a Judge
Romney told the U.S. Senate on June 22, 2004, that the "real threat to the States is not the
constitutional amendment process, in which the states participate,
but activist judges who disregard the law and redefine marriage . . ."
Romney sounds tough but yet he had no qualms advancing the legal career of one
of the leading anti-marriage attorneys.
He nominated Stephen Abany to a District Court.
Abany has been a key player in the Massachusetts Lesbian and Gay Bar Association which,
in its own words, is "dedicated to ensuring that the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decision
on marriage equality is upheld, and that any anti-gay amendment or legislation is defeated."
- U.S. Senate testimony by Gov. Mitt Romney, 6/22/2004 P>

"Romney announces he won't fill judicial vacancies before term ends
Despite his rhetoric about judicial activism, Romney announced that
he won't fill all the remaining vacancies during his term - but instead
leave them for his liberal Democrat successor!

Governor Mitt Romney pledged yesterday not to make a flurry of lame-duck
judicial appointments in the final days of his administration . . . David Yas,
editor of Lawyers Weekly, said Romney is "bucking tradition" by resisting the urge to
fill all remaining judgeships. "It is a tradition for governors to use that power to appoint judges
aggressively in the waning moments of their administration," Yas said.
He added that Romney has been criticized for failing to make judicial appointments.
"The legal community has consistently criticized him for not filling open seats quickly enough
and being a little too painstaking in the process and being dismissive of the input of the
Judicial Nominating Commission," Yas said.

I agree. Huck, Newt, Mitt means the MSM picked our candidate and we have no chance anyway. I will not vote for an MSM-annointed candidate like I did in 2008 when I voted for our Deepest McShame.

Even though this was printed in the WT, it is not a very objective article and it is filled with misinformation. For example:

Though the certificate of live birth constitutes legal proof under Hawaii and federal law, Hawaii state officials say they also have seen the “long-form” certificate that the state keeps and have said it also has Mr. Obama being born in Honolulu. However, privacy laws prevent the state from releasing that document to anyone, though it would be available for the president to inspect personally. Mr. Obama has fought in court against the release.

First, when do we have to accept the word of state officials? What kind of verification is that. Second, you don't have to be born in Hawaii to have the COLB. There is ample proof in that regard. Third, the Dem Governor, Abercrombie, has backed down from his original statement that he was going to view the long form. He hasn't seen it because they haven't provided one for him to view. Finally, we have a Former Hawaii elections clerk Tim Adams has now signed an affidavit swearing he was told by his supervisors in Hawaii that no long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate existed for Barack Obama Jr. in Hawaii and that neither Queens Medical Center nor Kapi'olani Medical Center in Honolulu had any record of Obama having been born in their medical facilities.

We also have a military doctor in jail who refused a military order because he questioned the legitimacy of the President to be CIC. Why won't the President release a copy of his long form birth certificate?

Here is the other side of the story as reported by MSNBC.

No matter what state officials release on the issue, the "birthers" are going to question it, said Fukino. "They’re going to question the ink on which it was written or say it was fabricated," said Fukino. "The whole thing is silly."

As the top Hawaiian official in charge of state health records in 2008, when the issue of Obama's birth first arose, Fukino said she thought she had put the matter to rest. Contacted by NBC, Fukino expanded on previous public statements and made two key points when asked about Trump's recent comments.

The first is that the original so-called "long form" birth certificate — described by Hawaiian officials as a "record of live birth" — absolutely exists, located in a bound volume in a file cabinet on the first floor of the state Department of Health. Fukimo said she has personally inspected it — twice. The first time was in late October 2008, during the closing days of the presidential campaign, when the communications director for the state's then Republican governor, Linda Lingle (who appointed Fukino) asked if she could make a public statement in response to claims then circulating on the Internet that Obama was actually born in Kenya.

Before she would do so, Fukino said, she wanted to inspect the files — and did so, taking with her the state official in charge of vital records. She found the original birth record, properly numbered, half typed and half handwritten, and signed by the doctor who delivered Obama, located in the files. She then put out a public statement asserting to the document's validity. She later put out another public statement in July 2009 — after reviewing the original birth record a second time.

"It is real, and no amount of saying it is not, is going to change that," Fukino said. Moreover, she added, her boss at the time, Lingle — who was backing John McCain for president — would presumably have to be in on any cover up since Fukino made her public comment at the governor's office's request. "Why would a Republican governor — who was stumping for the other guy — hold out on a big secret?" she asked.

Her second point — one she made repeatedly in the interview — is that the shorter, computer generated "certification of live birth" that was obtained by the Obama campaign in 2007 and has since been publicly released is the standard document that anybody requesting their birth certificate from the state of Hawaii would receive from the health department.

The document was distributed to the Obama campaign in 2007 after Obama, at the request of a campaign official, personally signed a Hawaii birth certificate request form downloaded on the Internet, according to a former campaign official who asked for anonymity. (Obama was "testy" when asked to sign the form but did so anyway to put the issue to rest, the former campaign official said. The White House has dismissed all questions about the president's birth as "fictional nonsense.")

The certification that the campaign received back —which shows that Obama was born in Honolulu at 7:24 p.m. on Aug. 4, 1961 — was based on the content of the original document in state files, Fukino said.

"... tell me ANYTHING he’s doing now to get any mention or notice whatsoever."

Romney is probably financing those favorable polls. Plus the Democrat (communist) Party media want's him to run against Barack (the Boy) Obama because Romney is a liberal Democrat Party lite politician. If Obama should lose the election the media will still have a "Democrat" in the White House.

If Romney is the GOP candidate, Soros wins

Lived in the NE for 15 years ... as far as state governors in that part of the world is concerned Romney was effective and competent. He did an outstanding job of managing the US Winter Olympics ... he brought them back from the brink of insolvency and chaos to success. So much so that the US Winter Olympics in Utah are now the template used by other countries to organize their own successful Winter Olympics.
