Indiana GOP Rep. Mike Pence says he is not likely to support the compromise brokered Friday between Congress and the President Barack Obama, Politico reports.
From what I know, it sounds like John Boehner got a good deal, Pence said Sunday on ABCs This Week, adding that the cuts were probably not good enough for me to support it.

“He sounds like he’s afraid of the Tea Party but he personally thinks the deal was OK.”
I don’t think so. I’ve met Mr. Pence and he is a true American. There is something else more sinister going on with this budget deal. All I can say is it better bring about something much bigger down the road. Damn it, we won! Let’s not play footsies with these socialist scum.
So why say it's a good deal, along with other positive words about Boehner?
Pence knows that at this time this is the best that could be gotten and that the real cutting will come with the Ryan bill.
If that's what he thinks he should vote for it.
What is your view of the tea party?
You always support the speaker if you are a representative, he is the one that makes and takes committee assignment has nothing to do with the matter at hand.
Nonsense...there were many reps speaking out against TARP, for example.
Reps speak out against deals all the time.
I feel really bad for Pence and Conservatives entrapped in this mess. They’re being forced to vote for the largest deficit in history- a deficit almost twice as large as the Stimulus that got ZERO votes from Repubs, for Pete’s sake... and for what?
I think Conservatives need a last minute wake-up call: Tell the leadership they’re only willing to support week-long CR’s with small cuts until a suitable deal can be worked out that they can support. This Deal feels just like TARP all over again, dumping things onto peoples’ desks at the last minute and saying the world will come to an end immediately if they don’t vote “Yes” (on details that should’ve been worked out months ago by the leadership).
Wishful thinking on my part probably, but I hope cooler heads can somehow prevail.
Into the path of an oncoming train.
He sure did and I dont trust the sumbitch.
Boehner could use a couple Viagras.. I would say..
Could be we need a new Speaker of the House..
You know.. a Boehner with some balls.. and a "leaded" woody..
Lets say...... Paul Ryan as "Speaker of the House"..
They have to count the votes first. If there are enough dems who vote for it Spence can play “tea partier” and vote against it.
Yep.
Anybody still thinking that Pence is Presidential material needs to read this article very carefully to see how weak a man he really is.
Totally weasily statement on his part.
He is not leadership material, therefore, he is not POTUS ready!
Pence can take this stand because it is right. He can because he isn’t going to run for the WH. He has already stated that.
Pence cannot support this because he is the one that wrote a bill to defund Planned Parenthood, which was dumped on this agreement.
He isn’t running for the WH so he can stay to his principles.
Even though he says it's a good deal, he votes against it? Odd.
He votes against on the premise that it did not include his defunding of Planned Parenthood.
Pence isn’t stupid. He also knows that we could probably never get what we really wanted past Harry Reid and the White House.
I am really amazed how folks think that just because we won the House, we can get what we want.
The biggest victories in 2010 were Statehouses and legislatures.
We could get far more if we could stop the Senate and Obama. Only way that will happen is to gain control of the Senate and/or the WH.
Right now we can make a stand and diminish dem damage and create gridlock.
Fully agree. I am actually somewhat gratified to hear Pence say we got a good deal; it shows he's not going along with that mentality.
He votes against on the premise that it did not include his defunding of Planned Parenthood.
If true, it would be good for him to specify that; if he did I didn't hear it.
It is much harder to actually have to vote on bill and put your money where your mouth is than to sit on the sidelines, out of the actual fight, and squawk.
Pence is not running for President and he is far better than the potentials we have now, who seem to know it all, but don’t have any skin in the game to be held accountable for by voting records.
Good grief. He just wrote a bill to defund Planned parenthood. No doubt. the GOP added it into this budget bill.
Very sad. It would never have passed the Senate or Obama anyway.
But it is sitting there ready. If we win in 2012 big time...it could be passed quickly.
So many people are trashing everyone over falsehoods or because they expect something that isn’t possible right now.
At this point in time, we have no way to win 2012 with this going on.
I am not really nuts about the Pence immigration stance. It is about like every other GOP potential except Bachmann, I much prefer Steve King, who is not running, on that issue.
