But this wasn’t “the” budget. This was about what happens between now and, first of all, five days from now and then the rest of the fiscal year (i.e., until the end of September).
It was a $$78.5 Billion haircut from Obama’s budget request for THIS fiscal year (cleaning up the mess made by Rats not passing a budget last year). And we still have the debt ceiling issue coming up and Paul Ryan’s real budget for the future to go.
I don’t see it as a defeat.
Me too. This is entirely on obama/Reid/Pelosi
I dont see it as a defeat.

With all due respect, I think you’re missing the point.
The starting figure was cutting $100 Billion. We ended up caving to only cutting $38 Billion with essentially no action on EPA and Plannd Parenthood.
If they caved this badly on this, what in Heaven’s name makes you think they’ll have the onions to fight for Ryans 6 Trillion in cuts? Seriously, We’re all waiting with baited breath for you to tell us the great confidence we should have with the likes of Boehner and McConnell??
(Crickets.....)
I am with you....as long as they keep chipping away with each bill. If they can get the Dems to make more concessions with the debt limit vote, and then maybe one or two stand alone bills to cut or combine replicated programs, I would be relatively satisfied.
I do think their strategy in these first few months is less than desired, but they are mostly going to be trimming around the edges until there is at least a GOP senate majority, and setting the stage for more pickups in 2012.
