There seems to be a 100% or bust mentality going on. This wasnt our budget, and we got something. It took the socialists over 100 years of incrementalism to get where we are. It will probably take the same to get us back. It wont be easy and it wont be quick. And that will make a great amount of reactionaires and pessimists cry the world is ending or that they have been sold down the river.
Our country and specifically, our movement, has such a short attention span and lack of patience that we give up in 3 months. We will never advance that way. I saw a post a few weeks back that Allen West is a RINO because he only votes conservatively on budget matters 75% of the time. That was after he had been in office 6 weeks. How is there enough data yet at that point (and what was the author counting as the right vote) to call him a RINO (the laziest term out there).
Excellent point. The Left never capitulates.
In 1996, CA voters outlawed quotas and racial set asides in public contracts and higher education. The Left's stalking horses sued and lost. Undaunted, Caltrans created a plan to keep quotas in contracting. That plan failed in the courts in the mid-2000s. Never willing to give up, when Obama took office they conspired with his DOT to get a threat letter that CA would lose federal highway funds if Caltrans did not have quotas and set asides.
They were sued.
This time, we lost because of an "escape clause" in the law that give deference to DOT federal funds strings.
Fifteen years they battled to do an end-run around the California voter to keep their institutionalized racism. They do not give up.
Obama lost $78.5 billion, including ALL of his proposed spending increases, in this deal with Boehner. That's not bad for a few months work half way into the fiscal year. Hopefully petulant "conservatives" will not cut-and-run from Boehner when he needs support even more for the 2012 budget and debt limit debates.
“This wasnt our budget”
Uh, yes, it was. Nancy Pelosi failed to pass one so this is our budget now. We should have been feeding Obama one budget after another and let him veto it.
