In the letter at the site:
The Chicago Police Lieutenants Association comes out with a strong endorsement of Concealed Carry for the citizens of Chicago.

The Police Chiefs are political appointees and can’t speak freely.
The Police Unions, ironically, are constrained by their association other union thugs who don’t want the competition.
Surely the Chicagoland patronage system is not falling apart before he leaves office?
Thanks marktwain. This is a huge development, what with NO ONE in Chicago carrying a concealed weapon up to now. ;’)
The Lieutenants Association? Someone who knows fill us in - are there associations for different levels of rank?
Where do the cops on the street stand?
Anybody who wants a good look at what a typical Chicago beat cop thinks, check out “Second City Cop”:
http://secondcitycop.blogspot.com/.
A good blog, especially if you know something about the city, its politics, and the guys with ordinary backgrounds but extraordinary balls who make up the best of the city police force.
Typically supervisors are not union members in many fields;I knew a man who refused a promotion from the shop floor because it would have meant becoming “management” and automatic termination of his union membership. Not to mention becoming salaried and unable to milk the overtime sign-up sheet.
Because of Chicago’s corrupt reputation, it is easy to overlook the extraordinary caliber of most Chicago cops. Yet, they are losing the streets. Arming the law abiding citizen can only help the police take back control of some areas.
Believe it or not, the policemen and firemen of the city of Chicago detest the soon to retire (hopefully to jail some day however not as long as the obama machine is in place) mayor, King Richard II Daley, and he hates them, too. They’re not big enough of a voting block for Daley to care, however he and his administration have historically screwed the cops and firefighters in contract negotiations and have allowed over time the policemen to be more liable for their actions while on duty and at the same time the city further limits it’s responsibility and liability related thereto. Pathetic. Now we have Prince Rahm, another POS who will further ruin the city over time. The slow demise of a once great city. Tragic but not unexpected.
Call me a skeptic. Having lived in Chicago, I can relate that things are never quite what they appear.
In fact, my personalized license plate identifies my stance on CCWs and I've had cops pull up next to me at stop lights and yell over to me that they like my plate........Of course it never stopped me from getting a ticket once....LOL!
“Who would of thought that the police in Chicago would buck the Daley machine! My hat is off to them. There must be more good ones there than we are told about.”
I’m falling out of my chair here.
Many cops believe that every scumbag snot down in the street equates to unsolved crimes cleared and future crimes averted.
So a law abiding concealed carrier is a winner all around...
well, there’s a Chicago PD logo on the OKs site IIRC.
Chicago, Seattle, Detroit, Atlanta, New Orleans, Las Vegas are just some of the cities I would never pull out a CC weapon unless my life/family safety was involved.
