2% reduction in $1500B isn’t a cut, it isn’t a win, it’s what amounts to agreement with ruinous overspending. This wasn’t a battle in a war; this was surrender with a paltry figment of dignity.

At work today, I commented that the Government wasn't going to pay the Military. The Bill guaranteeing Military pay was just a ‘distraction’. A younger woman said’ that's because it will defund abortions’. I am bereft at the lack of conscience in our younger generation. Funding abortion is more important than paying our Military??? Or even AS important??? It may be time for a peaceful parting of the ways with the Socialists. I don't care which half of the country they want. But I am convinced our side will have the protection of the best Military ever!

OK we won’t know for sure until they get through those pesky “details” and finalize this.
Yeah, the next few months should be interesting.

...leaving the wanton spending of $1919B we still don’t have.
Yeah, that helps.
Not.

The best part is , the media pimps were robbed of a shutdown orgy and Princess O didn’t get to show off the victory dress on prime time. A major win.

Yh only time the GOP doesn’t cave in is when they’re protecting the interest of their corporate masters. The rest of it is just cheap drama to get your votes.

Don’t be disappointed. This is really just the opening salvo in an effort to retake our government, a process that will take a long time. Big government politicians and their special interests will use every trick to stay in power, but we (still) outnumber them. We have to be ready to go the distance and win this one election at a time. That’s what the liberals have done. They worked decades to build this statist edifice, and dismantling it isn’t going to be quick or easy. Hang in there!

Good night Ernest. I had watched the CSPAN videos of just when JB announced they had reached an agreement with the HR members, Senate and the Prez, to put in temp spending measures and give them a week to finalize things. Then watched the prez which I very seldom do.
Then bingo. My Internet went goofy. Just minutes ago I finally downloaded required software to get my DSL connection to re-active and work. So I have been off the Internet for a few hours until minutes ago.
Any way. I am sure we shall connect on post in near future. Stay healthy. And good night.

Now is the time to take a stand. Tea Party Conservatives should draw a line in the sand and shout:

Just another round of good cop bad cop, nothing that we haven’t seen before or expected. In the end they all exchange grins with each other and with their lobbyist pimps as the TV cameras close up for the day.

Conservatives have no party. Are we ready for a new party?
I'm willing to vote for a "TEA Party" candidate!

I thought we would have to raise the Debt ceiling or cut $1.5T from this year’s deficit.
Doesn’t this agreement mean also caving on the Debt ceiling going up to $16T ?

Shutting down the government would only lead to positives like seeing that most of the current crop of dependents/government employees are non-essential. The world existed before the government bureaucracy and will exist when it collapses under its own weight.

The Tea Party is a minority new kid on the block in D.C., please remember. To have them at least force this much is a win. Be patient grasshopper. What has taken 98 years to embed (federal reserve act of 1913) will take decades to unseat.
This was nothing more than shots across the bow from both sides to bandaid down those impatient (and right) Tea Party members in congress.

I’m not paying close attention here, but I’m not expecting much. Democrat President, Democrat Senate, Republican House. We realistically can’t expect much. If the Tea Party is angry, it’s a good thing. Because if they’re happy, they’re less likely to vote. Any outcome right now that has the tea party enthusiastic to vote in 2012 is a good outcome - provided its a step in the right direction.

They are using the same talking points re: the debt ceiling:
“Many congressional Republicans say they will refuse to raise the debt ceiling without more spending cuts. The White House and many Democratic lawmakers want the ceiling raised immediately, warning that if the country defaulted on its debt, interest rates would soar, sparking another financial crisis and crippling hundreds of thousands of businesses.”
