Right on.
I have a feeling that this deal will look pretty bad for Reid and Brack as the details come out - a total of $80 or so billion in cuts, requiring Senate floor votes on defunding Planned Parenthood and Obamacare, a ban on funding DC abortions, and a restoration of the the DC school voucher funding that TOTUS had cut.
It's far from perfect, but it's not a bad baby step.
When turning a car, you can wrench the steering wheel so violently, you lose control.... or you start your turn with, as you put it, a baby step.
I agree. I also agree that it is far from perfect.
Unless the Reps show the stomach to fight every battle, especially after the historic results of the 2010 elections, then we will have more of these fake victories. I remember Giuliani's approach to crime in NYS. They went after the squeegee guys first. Once you show that you will not tolerate any level of crime, then you can really change things.
I don't consider tonight's agreement a victory, but rather a retreat rather than standing and fighting. One more cave in like tonight and the Reps are finished for 2012 and maybe beyond. I see the formation of a third party initiated by the Tea Party movement and conservatives.
