Sarah Palin Tells GOP 'Don't Retreat', Other Potential 2012 Presidential Candidates Disagree
abcnews.com ^ | April 8, 2011

Posted on 04/08/2011 6:00:51 PM PDT by Al B.

As the deadline to avoid a government shutdown approached Friday night, Sarah Palin pushed Republican Congressional leaders one more time to hold their ground.

"GOP: don't retreat! The country is going broke. We can't AFFORD cowboy poetry & subsidizing abortion," Palin tweeted. "If we can't fight to defund this nonsense now when we have the chance, do you think we'll win the big fight on entitlement reform later on?"

[...]

Notably, some of Palin’s fellow possible 2012 presidential contenders appeared to be at odds with her Friday evening tweet, counseling GOP leaders on Capitol Hill that it’s time to cut a deal.

“I am ready for a big fight that will change the arc of history,” Rep. Michelle Bachmann, R-Minn., wrote on Twitter this afternoon. “The current fight in Washington is not that fight.”

[...]

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.....“Nobody’s more pro-life than me. Nobody. But as much as I want to see Planned Parenthood defunded, as much as I want to see N.P.R lose their funding, the reality is the president and the Senate are never going to go along with that. So win the deal you can win and live to fight another day.”

I do see that the article is a direct misquote of Michelle Bachmann. She is strongly advocating that the House take a position of much bigger cuts of a much more permanent nature. She has repeatedly been taken out of context as being in favor of caving on this particular little squabble.
The problem is that this is an object lesson for the Demoturds. They must learn that the House will move without them and they can as Obamaturd says, sit in the back of the bus and come along for the ride.

Rove has been in her corner since he helped her on her first congressional campaign in 2006.

Karl Rove on Bachmann (from BOR the other night): “She’s a personal friend of mine. I helped her on her first campaign.”

If Rove is in Michele’s corner, that takes her down a notch in my estimation.

I like MIchele, but it’s Sarah all the way.

“I am ready for a big fight that will change the arc of history,” Rep. Michelle Bachmann, R-Minn., wrote on Twitter this afternoon. “The current fight in Washington is not that fight.”

I usually love Bachmann, but I think she's confused as to who's picking a fight here.

The Democrat party has been picking a fight with the American people for the past century or so, and has only escalated their provocations with time. Like that weaselly little "bully" who kept hitting that fat Australian kid (Casey). It's long past time for a retaliatory body-slam.

If the Republicans cannot stand strong on this piddling, insignificant amount; how can we expect them not to fold when the REAL pressure is on? Isn't it bad enough that there's no "body-slam" this year? Merely a limp-wristed b!&(#-slap?

At this point, it looks as though anyone who thinks that Paul Ryan's "brilliant" 2012 budget plan is going anywhere is fooling themselves.

Should the Republicans give in to compromise now? The answer seems to be a matter of “how does the public feel about the question”. That in turn is a matter of how well the case for or against the compromise is stated. The public needs to be educated, energized and inspired, and Sarah can do that better than anyone else on the scene.

How inspiring it was to read in her post today “Throughout our history, we have proven again and again that we are strong enough and wise enough to do the right thing when we are properly informed.” Honestly, I believe no other public figure thinks like that today.

A-frickin-men! If the GOP caves, they will never get the 'big ball' Bachmann keeps talking about. Kiinda disappointed in Michele.

That's what Mark Levin is saying right now.

It is actions like this one that ensure that I will do all that I can do to help her win. She is the real deal in a world of fakirs and usurpers.

She’s way off on this one. She said she won’t vote for it if it doesn’t defund Obamacare. What she fails to realize is if they compromise in any way, her want for the ‘big ball’ will never happen.

Dunno. I do know that Karl Rove is certainly part of Operation “Stop Palin.” The rest is just dots to connect.

Oh man. Not good. If Rove is aligned with Bachmann, that’s a huge knock. Rove is the epitome of GOP elitism.

I agree. Palin has an unbelievable talent at getting our core messages across. The issue isn't Planned Parenthood as a health clinic. The issue is tax-funded abortions, and unethical behavior at PP on our dime. She breaks issues down better than almost anyone I have seen on our side.

Correct. Palin is like Patton in WWII. You fight every battle to win. When you acquiece or cave, you show weakness. Weakness emboldens the enemy.

Bachmann's comment was very disappointing to me. Huckabee is just a jerk who should stick to playing the guitar on Lawrence Welk re-runs a 2 in the morning.

But, but Huckabee was “nice” to prisoners in Arkansas....after that they changed their lives and became productive citizens. /s

I'm not about to say Michelle is dogmeat, but you are right, this is disappointing. I thought she would stand up better. This is one more reason I hope Palin runs.

Did I mention how awful Rove has been since 2005?

Even his grammar sucks.
