(CNSNews.com) - Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) vowed yesterday that the provision to defund Planned Parenthood that passed the House earlier this year is “never, never, never going to pass the Senate.”
Schumer made the remarks Thursday on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., at a “Stand Up for Women’s Health” rally sponsored by the National Organization for Women, NARAL and Planned Parenthood.

Are abortions an “essential government service” now? Or if the government shuts down does their funding stop, too?
They know that they are going to give the Repubs most of the budget cuts and they will have to concede many more budget cuts in months ahead so they are going to try to make the battle all about abortion instead.
I hope conservatives don't buy it but I'm afraid they will. The bigger battle is the economy and we should be behind our folks in Congress as they win those battles.

I’m from NY, and its funny to hear Chuck Schumer speak in such definite terms about anything. The man is a PR-whore who will go whichever way the wind is blowing.

Wait until the 2012 election. The dems will be in the minority in the senate and OUT of the White House..we will defund Planned Parenthood and more...UpChucks days of liberal tax and spend are numbered.

The Dems think they have a winning issue with this Planned Parenthood rider. I hope that Boehner dosn’t fold on this one because. I believe that a Government shutdown because the Dems refuse to stop Government support for abortion is a loser for them. I hope they try.
If the Democrats are going to threaten to shut down the government over $100 million they promised Planned Parenthood, they shouldn’t be in office.
