I doubt anyone on Earth has ever starved to death because his beef was grass fed and not finished on corn. Be that as it may, anyone who owns corn should be free to use it for whatever purpose he chooses. I choose to feed most of mine to cattle, but because of the futures prices, I’ll produce a little extra this as a cash crop. If someone living in town wants to buy corn (or plow up his yard and raise corn), he’s free to do so.

Very few people outside of agriculture realize what a flood of cheap food the farm programs generated.

Looks like we’re all going to find out ‘how things might have been’ without those programs.

Good commodities tracker:

http://money.cnn.com/data/commodities/

Use the chart on top to select the commodity, then select either “1 month” or “1 year” to see short term or long term changes.

Noteworthy long term changes:

Corn + 119.30%
Wheat + 67.16%
Coffee + 103.00%
Sugar + 61.84%
Cotton + 166.53%

I am just saying that the wholesale conversion of foodstuffs into motor fuels, makes our entire planet's human population all that much more susceptible to starvation. If we destroy our "surpluses" then there will be nothing in the storehouse when there are large-scale crop failures or other food-related calamities in the world.

That's just so much nonsense.

The American farmer has spent the last decades living in near poverty. Now they're earning a fair return for their investment and labor. The big increases in production is at our doorstep.

America has, and can, flood the world with more food than anyone can imagine.

If the other countires would follow our proven methods not only would every person in the world have more food than they could possible eat, but there would be a lot left over to burn to heat homes or power vehicles.
