It would be nice to hear some ranting from Harry Reid about the women who are forced or at least cohersed into prostitution in the State he represents. So, they don’t have to “hook” but how many come from homes where they were abused, from childhoods where they were raped, mentally and physically beaten. I’m seeing a lot of contradiction here.

It is no more a health service than embezzlement by a bank executive is a financial transaction.

Damn well said!!!

This issue really has me shaking my head.

1. If you accept the premise that the federal government should be providing health care to the neediest among us, then are not cancer screenings and the like available to patients through doctors and clinics reimbursed through Medicaid?

2. Did not the President sign some sort of executive order banning federal funds from paying for abortions and are not abortions the primary business of Planned Parenthood? If Planned Parenthood is indeed providing essential services beyond abortion, have they offered to cease performing abortions in order to continue to receive federal funding and provide the cancer screening and counseling apparently so vital to the health of the American woman?

3. Abortion remains legal, regardless of the funding of Planned Parenthood.

4. If one is committed to the existence of Planned Parenthood, the federal government funds 33% of its budget. While removing those funds may force PP to restructure, it doesn't necessarily mean the end of PP. And, certainly, the highly motivated could run a successful fund raising campaign.

So much posturing and fuss over a very small budget cut, and actually an insignificant cut when compared to what must be done to put things right. Where on earth are the grownups?

Weather the tax payers want to support the murder of the most innocent or not makes no difference to the select elected officials who could care less what those voters want.

If these elected official gave that choice to the tax payers you would see little or no donations.

Do you know if contraception included in private health insurance plans? Is it a prescription or just OTC? Sorry I’m a guy who is not into this. If it’s privately available, why should taxpayers pay?

Gosh, I hadn't thought of that, but Oregon is known for its recyling ethic!
