An estimated 700,000 Americans died in the Civil War, one of the bloodiest times in our nations history. Its hard to imagine anything quite measuring up in this day and age but Jesse Jackson can.
On Thursdays Martin Bashir on MSNBC, Jackson, the founder and president of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, said the budget battle on the Republican side represents an effort to make the federal government dysfunctional.
[T]his really is a Civil War fight, Jackson said. This is making the federal government dysfunctional on the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. These guys will support three wars. Theyll support tax dodgers. Theyll support the wealthiest Americans getting tax breaks. They want to cut into education and health care. This is an ideological battle.
Jackson said those trying to shut down the federal government are doing so to make an ideological-religious point.
This is a Civil War fight, he said. I think Time magazine has it right. This is the 150th anniversary of the 1861 Civil War. Now those are determined to shut the federal government down to make their point their ideological-religious point.
You have those who believe in states rights and those who believe in a more perfect union, he said. States right are anti-civil rights, anti-workers right to bargain, anti-social justice, pro-rich and significantly insensitive to poor people that was the great divide 150 years ago and its the great divide today in the ideological sense.

Anyone hear how the Reverend’s little bastard child is doing?
Jackson, the founder and president of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, said the budget battle on the Republican side represents an effort to make the federal government dysfunctional.
And the problem is?
Tim Conway's L.A. radio show has a segment 8pm every Thursday called, "What did Jesse Jackson say?" Callers attempt to decipher his rantings.
Memo to Jesse: Getting rid of big gubmint is the general idea.
It’s gotten worse. If I were A-A, I would be embarrassed to have him speak on my behalf of my “race”.
That's what the first Civil War was when the Confederate leadership's sense of entitlement led them to rebellion in order to set up government power in service to their continued exploitation of the stolen labor of others.
Exactly. But Jesse is too STOO-PID™ to ever comprehend that.
What a dope.
Jesse = drama queen.
jessie who?
See tagline.
Why does anyone, anywhere, give this guy any type of credence?
Jesse Jackson is an idiot. It’s a shame that Jackson is all an entire race of people can have to represent them.
Jesse, you DON’T want the Civil War fought again. Plus, this won’t be a civil war. It’ll be a revolution.
For J. Jackas* to speak out about ANYTHING only assures that the check has cleared the bank and is in his account.
