Waaaah. Civilian/non-governmental teat sucking businesses have been bleeding jobs because the teats have taken too much from the corporations for decades. Now you cry when reality catches up to you!
Screw you and your whining. You had your ‘stable’ government jobs for decades on OUR backs. Now that it is time to reign in the spending you cry. Well, I’ve had to reign in my spending for nearly 10 years because of government intervention at every level of business for the last several decades.
No one can afford to pay your inflated salaries for what the type/amount of work you do. If you think I don’t know what the pay scales, I will tell you, where I live ALL GS employees receive a 35.35% ‘locality’ increase to their bases GS pay scales. So an advertised GS-7 position that is in a range of $37k-45k, would get a 35% increase OVER that advertised rate.
Sorry- we can’t afford to pay that anymore. Good luck finding a real job, I’ve spent two years trying to find one that I’m not overqualified for.
Second, if you can spell “rein in” (your spending), thank a public servant, aka a teacher. Otherwise, get spell check for your next job application and meanwhile, go back to school and broaden your education.
If the govt jobs (in this case Army civilian) are so plush, go for it. What's stopping you? Or perhaps your idea of a “real job” is “Will that be for here, or to go?” or waving a red flag at road construction? Or maybe manufacturing equipment or developing and testing software a US govt clerk will buy and a US govt employees will use and maintain.
What is a “real job” in yr view?

Don't “waah” me about the private sector and how "the govt" screwed up the "corporations. Like GE? Like Boeing? Like Microsoft? Like the airlines? Like all the banks etc that have FDIC guarantees? Like all those that took TARP? What "corporation" got screwed up by the government? Lots of folks are middle class or better because of the govt, and selling stuff to the govt, and using skills and contacts they gained from being in the military, and using money they borrowed thanks to govt guaranteed loans, and building their businesses with help of educated employees who were trained by the govt, and living with technological innovations that were developed by or for the govt or with the help of govt loans, grants etc, and living with govt safety standards. Fly much?
Before 2007 this did not seem to cause this anger, so let's go back to 2007 spending and lets be fair to people whose jobs are not needed and move them, or let them go with notice. Not this.
Meanwhile, sheesh. A military mail clerk worries about not getting paid and you call her a government teat sucker and worse? Maybe you've never been deployed and worried about how your mail was gonna catch up
If you think you can do her job cheaper - ENLIST. When the Army loses civilians, enlistees will be sorting the mail.
What do you think it costs the Army for each person it enlists to sort mail for a 2-3-4 yr hitch? Salary, benefits, housing, family support, medical yada yada yada
