Here there wasn't a "local" error in reporting either. Anybody who was on scene, and noticed that the Brookfield line showed -o- votes cast, could call the Brookfield election officers and get that total.
Granted, the county clerk screwed up - she had the number, but omitted it from the spreadsheet she handed out. Still AP should have noted the -0- line. And the cheaters, who have more on the line, could have too.
I don't think the clerk did this on purpose - too many ways the "effort" can be defeated, with natural observations (what's up with NO votes in a city of 40,000?), followed up by a specific inquiry.
You are right. The media should have picked up the 0 votes, but likely they were too busy celebrating.
