After Tuesday nights Wisconsin Supreme Court election, a computer error in heavily Republican Waukesha County failed to send election results for the entire City of Brookfield to the Associated Press. The error, revealed today, would give incumbent Supreme Court Justice David Prosser a net 7,381 votes against his challenger, attorney Joanne Kloppenburg. On Wednesday, Kloppenburg declared victory after the AP reported she finished the election with a 204-vote lead, out of nearly 1.5 million votes cast.
On election night, AP results showed a turnout of 110,000 voters in Waukesha County well short of the 180,000 voters that turned out last November, and 42 percent of the countys total turnout. By comparison, nearly 90 percent of Dane County voters who cast a ballot in November turned out to vote for Kloppenburg.
Prior to the election, Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus was heavily criticized for her decision to keep the county results on an antiquated personal computer, rather than upgrade to a new data system being utilized statewide. Nickolaus cited security concerns for keeping the data herself yet when she reported the data, it did not include the City of Brookfield, whose residents cast nearly 14,000 votes.
Throughout the day Thursday, official canvass numbers flipped the lead back and forth between Prosser and Kloppenburg. While many believed a recount was inevitable, the addition of the Brookfield votes for Prosser could push the justices lead beyond the legal threshold that would trigger an automatic recount. Under state law, Kloppenburg could still ask for a recount up to three days after the official canvass, but would have to pay for it herself.
More details as they become available.
Well there was Nov 2010. :)
Ah, the rocket surgeons are in a snit.
Eat sh!t and die, you dirty, vandalizing, lying, cheating, thieving, “motherf*****g” hippies.
They got beat at their own game and now they’re whining.
I like the one who wants to take to the streets with his own hands. I think I can train him how to sniff gunpowder instead of glue very quickly.
I meant in the post-election game-playing. :-)
Goody for you.
I just saw a live news conference out of Waukesha county on one of the Milwaukee TV channels. (6pm Central Channel 4 from Milwaukee)
The woman speaking, had to explain what happened. She was not too steady, she managed not to cry.
She had a whole lot of weight on her shoulders having to admit such a huge mistake to the whole state and to the whole country.
It was astounding to watch as she read the totals, gave the reasons for the mistake etc.
Believe it. It’s true. We’ve had a miracle.
I plead ignorance on the F5 key. Can you point me in the right direction?
A new hire about 20 years old sat looking bored at the idle computer in front of him. Staring at the keyboard for a few minutes, he finally reach out and tentively touched the F5 key. At that precise moment, the monitor shorted out and emitted a gasp of burning plastic aroma out of the top (old CRT type). I couldn’t miss an opportunity like that, I just couldn’t. In a fake alarmed voice I demanded “Oh no! What key did you touch!!!?’ and he frantically stammered ‘I just the touched the F5 key, honest!!!’ I widened my eyes in fake awe and said slowly and ominously ‘N-E-V-E-R touch the F5 key! N-E-V-E-R!’ Meanwhile I was wondering if I was going to have to haul it outside because it seemed to be smoldering.... Oh it took me 45 minutes to calm the kid down and I fear he may never have fully recovered. Good times...good times....
It’s a miracle!
Praise The Lord!!!
Virtual Freeper Hugs to ALL!
That was an analogy to illustrate the essence of what appears to have taken place. Sorry you didn’t catch onto that.
LOL! I said the same on FB. Bad enough trying to learn Access, never trying to explain to the numbnuts in the press!
Yeah, that “Now” is a bit of a Freudian slip, lol!
Good catch!
I love the sound of liberal heads exploding in the morning!

~s~ WARNING, Sarcasm follows:
That’s exactly what I just told my husband a while ago, that there could be dems going to the tallest building in Madison, and hopping off. That would be The Van Hise Building on the UW Campus.
*********
We live 20 miles due east from Madison....I think I can hear the crying and wailing and cussing from here on my farm!!!
Hee Hee Hee
F5 reloads the page.
One great thing that we can take away from this whole experience is the fact that millions of conservatives across the country were dialed in to this judicial election in WI. Dems think that a govt shutdown will produce the same exact results that 1995 did. How many of us in 1995 would have known about this race and who the good guy was much less following it in real time. Gosh, was there even such a thing as “real time” in 1995?
The RNC and state pubbie parties best take notice of what is going on here. The rules have changed big time but they are still using strategy as old as the computers some folks are posting pics of on this thread.
RE: the pic with the newspaper headline...
Oh that is great!!!!
Awesome work!
And the sheeple can't put two and two together.
