Dear Governor LePage:

We would like to help you avoid further distractions and stay focused on the job of controlling spending and taxation in Maine; this is the job you were elected to do!

We have formed www.buythemural.com to raise $60,000 so that you can pay the Federal government whatever U.S. taxpayer dollars they may be owed for the controversial Dept. of Labor mural and thereby take full and clear title for the State of Maine. The mural may then be placed in State of Maine facilities at the full discretion of the Governor of Maine -- no strings attached!

We believe there are far more than 60,000 Maine Citizens who will contribute at least $1.00 to put this mural distraction behind us. Contributions over $60,000 will be donated to the Maine State Museum.

Contributions can be mailed to Ron McArdle, Treasurer, P.O. Box 28, Presque Isle, Maine 04769, or by on-line contribution at www.BuyTheMural.com

Thank you for doing a great job as Governor of Maine!

Sincerely, Hayes Gahagan, Chairman Aroostook County Republican Committee www.hayesgahagan.wordpress.com

The US Dept of Labor weighed in and said that the state would either have to put the mural back in the Maine Dept of Labor building or pay back the $60,000 grant for this piece of dreary agitprop. It was taken down and is in an "undisclosed location" but the libs here are making it a civil rights issue.

We're going to donate a few dollars, after we do our donation to FR.

Reminds me of the guy who claimed his cigar collection had been destroyed in a series of small fires.

A logical response but the US Dept of Labor is fully behind making a big deal out of this “treasured piece of original artwork” that the issue just needs to be brought to a close.

Now, with Republicans raising money to purchase it I can just imagine the libs doing the same thing. Of course none of them would actually part with cash, they just want to yell and scream with outrage. But if they did I can see it ending up in some dingy coffee shop in Portland or maybe at a student lounge at one of the U of M campuses.

I think it’s in a basement somewhere now. Maybe there will be an unfortunate flood coincident with the spring melt.
