JAPAN ROCKED BY NEW QUAKE; TSUNAMI ALERT... DEVELOPING...
(Excerpt) Read more at drudgereport.com ...
That is pretty much standard procedure until the quake can be evaluated. Because tsunami’s are generated by surface movement, a quake focused 16 miles below the surface creates very LITTLE surface movement. The area west of the center MAY see a tiny wave, but it will not cause problems.
People are jumpy - with good cause.
The map shows 2-7.4 quakes...back to back within 42 seconds.
Glad you guys are alright. This is just awful.
tsunami arrived in some places... not sure how big
Godzilla again?

Odd...I don't recall the rise of Atlantis, New York City disappearing, and most of Japan sinking into the sea last century.
Bear in mind that Edgar Cayce was a nut of the first order.
that is one freaky picture...YOW!
Still nice to know you got away with nothing worse than a wake up call.
Hmmmmm, sorting the information out now.
Yes, two quakes within 41 seconds of each other.
Deep one (first) 26 miles, shallow (second) 16 miles. Both are too deep to create any substantial tsunami. The shallow one does not have a tsunami warning either.
Both have been reviewed by a seismonlogist - so they are valid events.
I don’t think that we will have much to worry about being roughly 200 miles south, but it’s always good to have the emergency supply/first aid box very close.. I even have a 1.5 liter water bottle I keep next to my bed, just in case..
Bikk
Live reporters don’t always get things right.
Ok- they’ve changed it now to one earthquake...strange

Nope. Just one. Updated now : http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Maps/region/Asia_eqs.php
Thanks. and MSNBC dropped the magnitude back down to 7.4
Correct figure....and shallow enough for a tsunami.
And now the map is back to showing just one.
Go figure...
There is a Tsunami Warning for Miyagi : http://www.jma.go.jp/en/tsunami/index.html
These are ADVISORIES. Look at the size estimated <2 feet (0.5 meters)
They have a WARNING along coast immediately adjacent to the location. Again, more likely auto generated based upon initial size of quake, not factoring in depth.
