With 100% of vote counted, Kloppenburg clings to narrow lead (204); recount expected

Unofficial results Wednesday showed Assistant Attorney General JoAnne Kloppenburg with a paper-thin lead over Justice David Prosser after a race marked by massive voter turnout, Gov. Scott Walker's union bargaining plan and record spending by outside interest groups.

As of 2:15 p.m., The Associated Press had tallied results for all of the state's 3,630 precincts and Kloppenburg had taken a 204-vote lead after Prosser had been ahead most of the night by less than 1,000 votes.

Kloppenburg declared victory based on the AP's results.

"Wisconsin voters have spoken and I am grateful for, and humbled by, their confidence and trust," she said in a statement.

Kloppenburg pledged to be an impartial justice and said she would decide cases "based on the fact and the law."

That last precinct counted was in the Town of Lake Mills, where town officials met just before noon to count the last of the paper ballots.

The Jefferson County clerk's office reported that Prosser picked up only two votes in the electronic vote in Lake Mills and that 24 handwritten ballots were not yet counted. The town's board of canvassers began meeting at 11:45 a.m. to count ballots, said Jane Hintzmann, a deputy county clerk.

Seems we have seen this fraud before.

So, why is FNC still reporting Prosser up by over 800? Which is it? This “country” can’t even conduct an honest election anymore. What a joke we’ve become!

I would urge WI to do something about this fraud now before she takes office. Now would be the time since we have other elections coming up.

With unions throwing everything they had into this election, in a state that has voted democrat in the last several presidential elections, I must say that I am somewhat impressed with the turn out. However, I expect that the supreme court seat will now fall to an activist judge who will sit there for at least the next 10 years. For that, I'm saddened.

So, why is FNC still reporting Prosser up by over 800?

That was from about 8AM this morning when only 99.3% of the precincts were reporting.

Apparantly they've come up with a new tactic. See the "breaking news" report of poll workers in Milwaukee destroying ballots.

Salon is already claiming the liberal won:

Take that, Tea Party! By the narrowest of margins, Wisconsin voters turn to the left in a closely watched state Supreme Court election

10,000 more votes in Dane County (Liberal Madison) for the Supreme Court race than in the County Executive race. Hmmmm. Do I smell something?

I can't figure out why it takes so much longer to count liberal votes than it does conservative votes.

It takes WAY longer in EVERY close race that liberal candidates win.

Strange coincidence.

Yup, sad day. Walker is going to find it hard to get much done with the courts undoing everything he tries to accomplish.

The unions won this round, no doubt.

Our turnout was pretty good too. Unfortunately, the leftists turned out even more.

While this is a terrible loss, the very fact that it was so close is something of a victory. It simply can not be said, as the leftists and the media had been declaring, that Walker and his agenda is unpopular. He has the support of about 50% of voting Wisconsinites. The left seems to have the support of the other 50% - at least for the moment.
