Shhh. I am about to say is something so radical that it will jangle every politically correct nerve in your body. And yet...it is true. The founding and traditional culture of the United States, its Judeo-Christian heritage and boots-on-the-ground decency is superior to all other cultures this world has produced. And it certainly beats the radical worldview (part Marxist, part Islamic, and all thug) that our political and media elites -- led by the president of the United States -- are imposing upon us.
Scream if you must -- but then think. Think about what former Godfathers Pizza CEO Herman Cain -- Christian and African-American -- and so many others recognize as "the greatest country in the world." Outside of the cocoons of condescension wrapping the university and urban strongholds of our trendy elites, this is recognized not as jingoism but truth. Cain insists that our "unparalleled freedom" and "innovative and industrious people" have combined with "exceptional" American traditions to produce the single country to which most people want to come. Columnist/talk show host Dennis Prager notes that American success, as defined by freedom and economic opportunity, "refutes" all that our leftist elites hold dear.
So what does this mean? It means that centuries of Americans have largely been making right choices. Judeo-Christian culture joins the ability to choose -- also known as free will, a gift from God -- with an emphasis on individual restraint and good behavior. Choices that reflect the virtues arising from restraint (such as a respect for individuals regardless of gender, race or religion) are better than those that do not. Some combinations of choices are objectively superior to others. The choices made over time in the United States have produced a culture of greater value

Every impoverished starving child in predominately Christian third world countries dreams of coming to America.
Now the leftists insist on taking this away from them.
Very true.
This does not therefore mean our culture is superior in all ways, of course, merely that it is superior overall.
And much of what makes our culture superior has been lost or degraded in recent decades.
If I cannot lift up the needy then I will crush the leftist vermin under heel. Either method makes the world better.
I am a little uncomfortable with this claim for two reasons. Why call it Judeo-Christian when in reality it is Christian? The Judeo-Christian part came to appease Jewish people who were persecuted in Europe and were anxious to fit in. Secondly, much of Europe and the West is based on Christian culture, but America alone stands for liberty. My main opposition to Europe and Latin America is that they hate us.
Probably because the “Christian” part is rooted in the “Judeo” part. Our Savior is a Jew.
Nobody denies that. Technically, socialism is rooted in Catholic religion as well which is rooted in Judeo-Christian tradition too. I think America deserves more credit than the rest of the Western world which would all be socialist but for us. Even now, politicians in Europe win elections by calling themselves socialist. It wouldn’t work here. So there is something else about America. Ayn Rand was not religious, but her works have sold in huge numbers here.
Prov 29:2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
Socialism is rooted in the denial of God.
I don't think that's a defensible position historically, philosophically or religiously.
Not so. That is Communism. In both cases, the economic ideas trump all other ideas. Early Christianity focused on charity, opposing interest rates (called it usury) and there is the famous verse against rich people entering heaven. The conflict between Catholics and Protestants in Ireland was seen by Karl Marx as a war between land grabbers (allegedly, these were Protestants) and those who wanted to give land to the poor (Catholics).
The question of God is a minor issue in the whole game.
The NT just gets to the point quicker and spells it out clearer :-)
“Our Savior is a Jew.
I don’t think that’s a defensible position historically, philosophically or religiously.”
It is if you change “is”to “was”.
I’d discuss this with you, but I don’t know which error to deal with first.
Do you mean that Jesus evolved away from Judaism religiously or philosophically? That he was born a Jew, grew up a Jew, but eventually left that remnant religion?
No it's not
From the Catholic Encyclopedia (published originally in 1912): But, in order to understand fully what Socialism is and what it implies, it is necessary first to glance at the history of the movement, then to examine its philosophical and religious tendencies, and finally to consider how far these may be, and actually have proved to be, incompatible with Christian thought and life.
“Do you mean that Jesus evolved away from Judaism religiously or philosophically? That he was born a Jew, grew up a Jew, but eventually left that remnant religion?”
Before He laid down His life, He was half Jewish human by blood line and the other half the nondenominational God.
After He came back from the dead He had a new spiritual body that I don’t think could be called Jewish. God tore the veil in th etemple in two when Christ expired, thus opening the way for us to come directly to God through Jesus.
