Ah, was that a “friendly” — that is, “rebel” — ammo dump or an “enemy” (Qaddafi) ammo dump? One ammo dump is pretty much like every other ammo dump. The difference is in the tonnage and type of ordnance stored there.

That orange-brown smoke at the end looks very much like the smoke from the 1947 explosion of a shipload of ammonium nitrate in Texas City, Texas.
I was an eyewitness -- from seven miles or so away -- in school in Webster, Texas. The shockwave knocked crayons, etc. off of our desks...
These folks were a lot closer to the blast.
Also, note how the brightness of the flash automatically "stopped down" the auto-exposure camera and made the scene look like nighttime for a few seconds.

...all depends on munitions type stored there..I suspect they were rockets of some type that have fuses that arm when accelerated,or grenades of some sort.....they could even be fuses alone that would start the initial “chain” of explosions in many types of munition.
