Bachmann begins to overshadow Palin as more-likely White House contender
The Daily Caller ^ | April 5, 2011 | Shane D’Aprile

The vacuum created by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s (R) absence from the 2012 campaign trail presents a major opportunity for the woman she once hinted might share a presidential ticket with her: Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.).

With strategists and conservative activists increasingly convinced that Palin won’t make a run for the White House next year, she is losing some clout among her contingent of grassroots devotees who are eager to hit the 2012 campaign trail and rally behind an alternative to President Obama.

Bachmann, who is mulling a 2012 run, is the most obvious choice to supplant Palin in next year’s presidential contest.

I was unaware of that. That would be another good reason not to promote her candidacy or vote for her in a primary.

As for the general election, I will vote Republican regardless.

I will vote for Palin.

With that protedtive shield in place - she is not up to snuff as a speaker. Someone needs to tell Sarah Palin to slow down, sometimes less is more.

She will not calm the fears of undecideds unless she comes across steady and calm at times, which is why Reagan beat Carter.

My overall support for Bachmann ended the day I read the list of congressmen on the right who supported the bill.

So far as I have seen, Congresswoman Bachman is very good at getting herself before the cameras and the microphones. However, I have not seen any summary or analysis of her legislative achievements. I know her biography is interesting, but I have never seen any particular focus on her leadership abilities. My big question about her is whether she is simply good at attaching herself to important issues of the day, or whether she has any skill at shaping, defining and dealing effectively with those issues. Incidently, she is not the only one of the potential Republican nominees about whom I have this concern.

Geesh, every potential candidate we have on our side has more experience than Obozo.

Bachmann is a fine conservative, as good or better than most.

True, but she hasn’t yet resigned from her elected office.

People love it when they resign.

A Congressman would NEVER, possibly, ever, make a “good” President. Just look at Abraham Lincoln for instance.........

Lincoln was not a particular standout when he was in Congress. However, he was a highly competent, sophisticated, experienced and successful lawyer. He was anything but the frontier rube that is often his popular image. He was one of the leaders in the formation of the Republican Party. He was also a highly skilled orator, a very important skill to have at that time. My point is that he had amply demonstrated skills, abilities and leadership that would be important in the selection of a President. He was hardly "just some Congressman."

The left in Canada are going to have a difficult time smearing her, as nobody up here even knows who she is. I imagine somewhat the same for a lot of lefties down there too eh?

I’d love to see Bachmann-Palin Overdrive running in 2012, love to see the left all over N. America start eating their own faces.

That is not true. Michele voted against the bill you accuse her of voting for. It was the food safety bill. Look up the facts before you smear her.

I believe that she is running. Sarah’s going to do everything her way and her way isn’t always the same old way.

I hope you're right, but I'm okay either way. She'll run if we don't have a candidate who would do the job right.

one again the strategist don’t know nothing. Palin have said this many times, she is waiting for other candidates to announce first and decide whether she will support/or run herself based on those candidates. She also said she won’t be making this decision for months.

Once again the establishment and media are trying very hard to convince her not to run

I'm getting more partial to Bachmann especially after I saw Sarah remark on Libya. She missed that one by a mile.

Reagan beat Carter because he had solutions and pride in America, while Carter was a total nincompoop and the country was a mess.

Lincoln is the extreme exception.

Some here may disagree.

Ask people who Sarah Palin was the day before McCain picked her and I could guarantee you, the percentage knowing who she was, is much smaller than those knowing Bachmann now. She has been in the news for months now, unlike Palin who stepped onto a stage and into our hearts the day the GOP nominee John McCain picked her as a running mate. If Bachmann formerly announces, and she does well in the Iowa debate, the trash talk will be as bad as any thing we heard from the media about Palin.

Palin/Rubio 2012

Can not lose on that ticket. Would most definitely pick up the hispanic vote. Is that racial pandering? Why, of course, but if THEY can do it, then why not us? The difference is, it’s not just for race, Rubio is awesome and a true conservative.

Ryan for Secretary of Treasury

West for Secretary of Defense

Bachman for Secretary of State (yeah baby)

New blood, new future for America, new Hope.
