“Bachmann is a FOOL who is listening Karl Rove whispering in her ear.”

You obviously didn’t hear Karl Rove give her less than a glowing recommendation on O’Reilly Auto Parts last nite.

Bachmann is not a “FOOL”; she is a solid conservative but would draw nowhere near the rabid enthusiasm generated by Sarah Palin. Rove and the auto parts guy are solidly behind the Mythical Romulus.

“There is no comparison”

Of course there is. The comparison is that in each bill the federal government is given carte blanche authority over the production and distribution of all food production in the United States. This detail is the thread which binds all of the bills.

No, she was not being accused of supporting the SB bill. I clearly stated that. As a matter of fact, in my initial post and I had asked our fellow Freeper if they could provide me with a link. I also stated that I sighted the wrong bill, and told you I’d provide a link, which you responded to by saying that you’d wait for the source.

As I stated previously, I read all the bills. The contamination angle is a weak one at that. The states should be granted autonomy and authority to pass legislation concerning food production and distribution, not the federal government.

The real question here is whether or not you believe government authority at the federal level should trump states rights. If you hold to this position, you have no claim in describing yourself as a true Conservative.

Furthermore, you expose a lack of integrity when you failed to apologize for falsely accusing someone of smearing Michele Bachmann.

The irony here is blatant. There are a number of individuals accusing Palin supporters of being the blind faithful. This thread and the comments being expressed shows clearly that many Bachmann supporters are just as blind, if not worse.

I withhold my support for either. I’ll wait to see who will be on the Presidential ticket. I will decide then who I’ll support.

Bachmann: ““the least important issue in the United States right now,” ( Obama’s natural born citizenship.)
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Anyone who believes that having a usurper, possibly not even a citizen, in charge of the world's most powerful military since the dawn of creation is a FOOL!!!

Anyone who thinks having a usurper in the White House who can ( and **HAS**) thrown thousands out of work Is a flaming IDIOT!!!

I am not going to apologize because the bill she voted on was a response to all the food contamination being imported in to the US at the time.

I don’t have a problem with that.

The House bill was used by the Senate to create SB 510 because the Senate can not make a bill that appropriates funds. It has to come out of the House. That does not mean Michele was for SB 510 that was the creation of the Senate democrats.

Pick on Lamar Alexander and Dick Lugar, they voted for this monstrosity.

Both Palin and Bachmann have said they feel that the Birther issue was a distraction.

Neither lady can boast about that. That said, each of them used to ask Obama for his BC.

If that is a big issue for you, vote for Trump.

The ladies punted.

“I am not going to apologize....”

Interesting twist. You know I wasn’t talking about the bill. You know I was referring to your accusation regarding your “smear”.

So you do support carte blanche federal governing. I can only assume so when I consider the fact that you didn’t answer my direct question. It is no wonder you’re blindly supporting Bachmann, and trying to paint the variations of this bill as having “no comparison”.

Of course you won’t apologize. I wouldn’t expect anything more.

Quite frankly, I haven’t picked a candidate yet. I see you have.

I am not picking a candidate until I see who enters the race. Right now, nobody has.

Once they enter, campaign and debate, I will make my choice.

If you follow the thread, I say intend to vote for the winner of the primary.

If you want to get stuck on formalities, consider this an apology. It is all about how you look at it.

Lincoln was not a particular standout when he was in Congress. However, he was a highly competent, sophisticated, experienced and successful lawyer. He was anything but the frontier rube that is often his popular image. He was one of the leaders in the formation of the Republican Party. He was also a highly skilled orator, a very important skill to have at that time. My point is that he had amply demonstrated skills, abilities and leadership that would be important in the selection of a President. He was hardly "just some Congressman."
Why do I always see this Lincoln worship on this site? Lincoln was the LIBERAL of his time, the Republicans were the LIBERAL party! He was the left wing candidate in both 1860 and 1864. Was slavery wrong, yes. But Lincoln only ended it to keep England from supporting the south. The Republican Party did not become the conservatives until T.Roosevelt pulled the liberal wing from the party and tried to create a third party with them. Lincoln was against states rights, he trampled the Constitution, he was the main reason for the power moving from the states to the federal government, he destroyed the south. I wouldn't have voted for Lincoln then, I wouldn't vote for him now.

Thomas Jefferson was a LIBERAL in his day. Worse, he and Washington were REVOLUTIONARIES. How about trying to think, rather than simply throw around labels and react to them? To be a liberal or a radical in 1770 or 1860 may have meant something different than it does today.

I'm not so sure Lincoln was a liberal or radical in his own era. He championed the continuation of the republic at a time some wanted to shatter it. And if you look at what he had to say about individual enterprise and personal responsibility, he doesn't sound very much like a 21th century liberal at all.

Lincoln was against states rights, he trampled the Constitution, he was the main reason for the power moving from the states to the federal government, he destroyed the south. I wouldn't have voted for Lincoln then, I wouldn't vote for him now.

Lincoln was faced with an unprecedented situation that required strong measures. He was not more restrictive of individual rights than Jefferson Davis. And whatever measures he took to restrict civil liberties didn't last beyond the end of the war and weren't intended to. The great growth of the federal government took place in the 20th century long after Lincoln left the scene.

If you don't like Lincoln, fine. But he did make a contribution to American liberty and to the survival of the country, and that's why many people here respect and admire him.

“Anyone who thinks...Is a flaming IDIOT!!”

So your candidate must be the Trump Towers because as far as I know he is the only one of the “potential” candidates making an issue of this. I’ll give you this - he does have the balls to take the press and hairy legged women flamers head on about it.

The press attempts to make pariahs of those who don’t walk nazi lock step with their view of Obozo’s Christianity and birthplace. Most of the GOP pols fold their tents when asked those questions so using your disjointed reasoning, all the rest of them must be idiots too.

There is a simple answer to the questions posed by the Larry Queens and George Steponallofus and that is:

“Larry and George I have serious concerns about the failure of the president to provide the type of birth certificate that I had to provide to get my passport. His background at most of his venues appear to reach the Q level of secrecy. For someone that has claimed “openness” he has behaved just the opposite. I don’t personally know whether he was born in the USA or not. Perhaps you should be doing your jobs and asking him about it rather than trying to belittle those who have legitimate concerns about this issue because your behavior reeks of being Democrat lapdogs.

Regarding his Christianity, he was a member of a church with a bonafide black racist pastor and he rode that horse for a long period of time before the pressure of the idiotic statements of that pastor became untenable. There are numerous examples of his kowtowing to Islam and thumbing his nose at Christianity. To my knowledge he has not been to church regularly since he quit the racist. So I think a reasonable man can question his Christianity and a lapdog reporter can try to demean or marginalize those who have that feeling.”

And now you know why I won’t be a candidate for office anytime soon!

Calm down. OK, you wouldn't have voted for Lincoln, but lots of people did, and he is a significant part of our country's history whether you approve of him or not. He did save the union, but I probably don't want to hear how you stand on that aspect of our history.

The point of my original post was that the author of the comment that compared Congresswoman Bachman's achievement and leadership qualities with those of Lincoln didn't seem to know much about the real Lincoln. Quite apart from his Congressional experience, Lincoln was an accomplished lawyer at the very highest levels of law practice of the time. He was not some country bumpkin living in a log cabin. That's a matter of history, not a matter of politics or opinion.
