I'm cautiously skeptical of all things Trump, but you're way off base on that analysis. This game is not over by a longshot.
If Trump comes in strong on national security, the border, the economy and protecting the Constitution, he'll win (re)election with crushing landslides.
It's sad that he's only lately come to his current views on abortion and gay marriage, but ... dude. The country is ripe for a knock down drag out over a lot of issues in 2012, but abortion isn't one of them. Most Americans and most conservatives will be ready to add him to Mount Rushmore if he can fix the border, the economy, national security and upholds the Constitution.
the abortion freaks give me and the conservative movement a real headache...government should not pay for abortions, government should not ban abortions. It is a matter strickly between the woman (because she is carrying) and her doctor. Hopefully she has consulted her family...and must have parental consent if underage (for any medical procedure).
I can’t tell a dime’s worth of difference between the religious right telling a women what she or can’t do and the Taliban forcing a woman to burka up or accept other wives.....Both extremes need to get lost and get out of my universe.
The whole abortion “debate” would benefit from, in the words of the late Senator Moynihan, some “benign neglect”.
jes saying....

Hey I agree with you. My point is there will be a litmus test with all our candidtes. While abortion and gay marriage isn’t at the top of my list, it is for some. For most of us here, that will be a deal breaker.
I know what Trump told O’Reily. If it is true, then Trump has my vote. he is the only one with a pair. Plus the left won’t be able to touch him.
