Huckabee's Gubernatorial Records Missing
Mother Jones ^ | April 04, 2011 | Siddhartha Mahanta

Mother Jones: "There's a Mike Huckabee mystery that won't go away. Send a public records request seeking documents from his 12-year stint as Arkansas governor, as Mother Jones did recently, and an eyebrow-raising reply will come back: The records are unavailable, and the computer hard drives that once contained them were erased and physically destroyed by the Huckabee administration as the governor prepared to leave office and launch a presidential bid."

The Huck is just one strange duck. What is it with politicians who have a need to erase their histories also having a need to seek higher office? I thought we were a nation of "transparent" governance. We already have an emperor with no clothes...do we need another? (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2699796/posts)

Unfortunately, the nature of politics is such that even innocuous comments or actions are re-interpreted with sinister tones.

This is the type of story that will languish until the Huckster pulls the trigger and looks competitive. The left isn’t going to leave this story alone while the right hammers Obummers lack of history.

I would also like to know what type of pot the Mother Jones people are bonging. Huckster the automatic frontrunner? He was lousy the last time he ran, what did he do lately to make him less a loser.

“he computer hard drives that once contained them were erased and physically destroyed by the Huckabee administration as the governor prepared to leave office and launch a presidential bid.”

That can’t possibly be legal? Or is Arkansas the type of backward place where government records (emails, files, correspondence) are not legally protected? I’ve always had a slight fondness for Huckabee, if for no other reason than he doesn’t beat around the bush on important issues like abortion, but this is galling. If it’s legal, it’s legal, clearly. But I find it shocking that this could happen in the modern political age without anyone hearing about it until now.

I agree it sounds like someone has to have been smoking something stronger than "longbottom leaf" to believe that the Huck is the Republican frontrunner, but there actually was a Gallup poll taken last week that indicated that that was the sad state of affairs:

He didn’t destroy them, he pardoned them.

I have no use for Huckabee but watch the MSM come out like wolves on this story. The same MSM that won’t ask a thing about Urkel.

12 years of records destroyed, if true, isn’t an “innocuous comment.” It’s obama-like trail covering.

He does not want all those violent criminals he released in the name of race baiting to be followed up on. How many were raped and murdered by Huckster’s “mercy.”

I think he has great name recognition, his TV program and all. That is why he is up top on the long list of suspected candidates. Once every one hammers on his awful record of running AR again, like the pardons and taxes, he will be less palatable this time.

Huckabee was supposed to be this great orator. But at the convention, Rudy gave a better received speech. Palin is by far the better stump speaker. Cain is even better IMHO.

I couldn’t agree more. Romney used to really destroy him in the debates. Wait till there are better equiped candidates up there, i.e.; Palin, Cain, Trump, Bachmann et al. It will be a bloodbath. The Gomer Pyle routine may be good for a small time Gov election or cable show, but not serious politics. The ‘08 GOP primary showed that.

Here is a random gut take, I think I’m right but we’ll see: Huck ain’t running. Palin ain’t running unfortunately. Bachmann, Pawlenty, Romney, Gingrich are. Trump Ain’t.

If only Romney were not so wooden. He just seems totally to lack the common touch, or whatever quality that draws men to a leader.

He also has Romneycare around his neck and has raised flip flopping to an art form. Romney is damaged goods as well.
