On Friday [March 4, 2011], Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio raided four Phoenix-area Pei Wei restaurants, in search of more 100 illegal workers, many of whom were allegedly using stolen Social Security numbers. The raid turned up dozens of illegal aliens, and as a result, Pei Wei bought a full page ad in the local paper—seeking new, legal hires.
On Monday [March 7,2011], people were lined to apply for those jobs that people such as Sen. John McCain continuously tell us “Americans won’t do.”
Among the job applicants was Jacquelyn Paul, who has a master’s degree and has owned her own business. Today she is unemployed, and applied for a cashier’s job at Pei Wei.

Gosh. If Obummer had his head out of his a$$, he would sweep out all of these illegals and make sure that Americans replace them. That would put a dent in the Ump numbers fast. But then who would be left to vote for him?
A simple case of curing the symptons and getting killed by the disease. The owners of the restaurant should be arrested and their business dissolved as well for hiring the illegals in the first damn place. Pedro produces a social security card, which is most likely a forgery and the employer accepts it at face value. It costs too much money to check its veracity.
The employers who hire these illegals are a big, if not more, a part of the problem then the illegals themselves and they should be held responsible to the maximum extent of the law. If ICE would crack down on the employers half as hard as they do the illegals, this problem would not be nearly as bad is it is.
If she isn't an illegal alien it must be proved that she will still vote democrat to promote the cause to be fair though, right?

I hope they hire and train quickly. Our Pei Wei has been closed for several weeks. I really miss it! We bought take out from that Pei Wei nearly once a week.
Same thing happened in the Midwest at those meat-packing plants; they didn’t even run ads, and all these Americans showed up as soon as the raids hit the news.
The “jobs Americans won’t do” is a malicious lie; these companies probably can’t stay in business now that they have to pay for such things as workers comp and hand soap...
See post # 9; they may not be coming back (though for your sake I hope they do). Chinese restaurants by us have the indentured servant Chinese work there (the ones who are transported by van to the restaurants, then locked up in warehouses at night until they’ve paid off their coyotes).
Of course there are plenty of people to do these jobs without the need for illegals! I think even farm labor jobs could be filled to some degree. If not, then allowing some kind of heavily controlled agricultural work visa, like I've heard used to exist way back would be the solution.
With all the retired and high school/college age citizens desperate to keep money coming in, there is no legitimate excuse for the use of illegal labor.
Yes, it is. And it was that lie, coupled with GWB's insistence on pushing amnesty on an unwanting American taxpayer, that led to my open criticisms of him which, at the time, nearly resulted in my being banned from FR.
I believe that overall, that sentiment has changed, though I know there are still many who continue to think Bush walks on water.

The only defense of GWB seems to be what followed him, though he had no small part in that. I voted for him twice, because he had to be better than the alternative, but this one-party rule of Republocrats has to stop.
Shhhhhhh! The dirty little secret is that when illegal immigration is fully addressed and enforced as the law requires, there will be tons of Americans getting jobs. And tons of illegals self deporting themselves.
If Bush had acted like the Reagan conservative that he claimed to be... obama would have never been elected. The man called me a BIGOT because illegal aliens were here illegally. You are correct, Bush beget us Obama. And while he was a far better choice than Gore or Kerry would have been he turned out to be an incredible disappointment.
Bush is one of the primary reasons that after 30+ years as a Republican I registered as an Independent.

I've lost friends who 'claimed' to be conservatives when all along they were just die-hard Bushites ready to defend his every liberal position. When I say lost I mean I choose to no longer associate with them.
The lie that illegals are coming here to do jobs Americans won't do is just that, a lie. 2nd and 3rd generation tradesmen have lost their livelihoods to these invaders and Bush, McCain and Graham defend it. Not only is that not conservative, it's not American.
