Hey, how about just putting a big balloon on their rear ends and collecting the methane to use to generate electricity? You could have some cows in your back yard and use them to power your Volt.

I often wonder, when I am cutting my grass, how hard would it be to convert the grass clippings to methane, collect the methane and use it to power the mower? I think if you held enough grass clippings in a tank, kept it warm and wet, and introduced some of the bugs that live in a cow's gut you could make a lot of methane over a week's time. It could be pumped into a couple of small tanks and by week's end you might have enough methane to power your mower for a few hours. Basically the machinery would do the same thing as a cow but you could get around zoning ordinances that prohibit livestock.
