What the General was speaking about wasnt rights. He never said the guy should not be able to do it.
Its about strategy. This move hurts diplomatic efforts within the war, and hampers any pysch warfare we have. Aside from being famous, what is the point of a religious leader burning another religion’s books?

jones is a “religious leader” like the moon is made of green cheese. This is ridiculous. Petraeus should have issued a flat warning when the natives began massing. WE will shoot to kill if you dare attack innocent people. And then DO IT!

Agreed, why just burn books? We need to sponsor a mass koran burning in Afghanistan. Publish it in Al Jazeera a month in advance. Get some imam to issue a fatwa that all faithful Mujahideen should be there to stop it. One or two fuel-air explosives and look at all the good you can do. Just as good as a bug zapper.
