MIDDLEFIELD - State Rep. Matt Lesser, who represents Durham, Middlefield and Rockfall in the Connecticut General Assembly, has set up an online survey
on his legislative webpage
and is encouraging constituents to offer their opinions on issues being worked on during the 2011 legislative session.
Survey questions mostly focus on the current state budget crisis. Participants are given choices as to what state spending they recommend being cut or protected and what taxes they think should be raised to help cover an estimated $3.5 billion budget deficit.
Response have already been great, Lesser said, and he is pleased by the number of people who have taken the survey so far.
Of course, I speak to constituents year-round and have a good idea of what's on their mindsbut this survey is helping me get more detailed feedback, said Lesser. We have many difficult choices to make as we work getting the states finances in order, and I want to hear what my constituents really think we should do about the budget.

These people always subtly demagogue the issues. It's like whenever they want to cut the Education budget they quickly state they need to cut teachers.
Quinni poll had Malloy down in the 30s for approval.
I didn’t think that many people paid attention to state budget issues.
I guess the big taxes and the WI communist union coup caught their attention.
I'll take that poll.
Cut aid to families with children? Yes.
Cut aid to the disabled? Yes.
Increase taxes on those who make more than $250K? No.
The question is whether the average American can see through this type of BS question. I certainly hope so.
Connecticut residents already took this survey last November. They chose to increase spending, raise taxes on a small minority of the people (i.e. wealth-creators), and borrow the rest.
This is from Gov. Malloy's campaign website:
Over the past 5 years, I have traveled the state listening to the concerns of Connecticut's citizens. I have heard their concerns about making ends meet while ensuring that their communities can provide quality schooling and important municipal services. Many, especially seniors on fixed incomes, wonder whether they can continue to stay in their communities, and keep their homes, as the burden of taxes increases each year.
Five years, eh? And they still need to take a survey after five years of listening to the people? Yeah, right.
If ya wanna take the survey, use Durham, CT 06422
