James Taranto at the Wall Street Journal editorial page caught this story about Britain's National Health Service.
"A former NHS director died after waiting for nine months for an operation--at her own hospital," London's Daily Mail reports:
Margaret Hutchon, a former mayor, had been waiting since last June for a follow-up stomach operation at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, Essex.
But her appointments to go under the knife were cancelled four times and she barely regained consciousness after finally having surgery.
Her devastated husband, Jim, is now demanding answers from Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust--the organisation where his wife had served as a non-executive member of the board of directors.
He said: "I don't really know why she died. I did not get a reason from the hospital. We all want to know for closure. She got weaker and weaker as she waited and operations were put off."
It would be cruel to put this down to karma, so instead we'll just note that it can't possibly be true. After all, as New York Times star columnist Paul Krugman has observed, "In Britain, the government itself runs the hospitals and employs the doctors. We've all heard scare stories about how that works in practice; these stories are false."
James really knows how to let Krugman have it.

Now being implemented in the USA: nobamacare. Stay healthy or die.
The person on the page is from Chelmsford too.
Is he going to be buried in the town of Irony?

In this case they mistreated everyone equally it seems.
“I’ve seen this happen in Costa Rica where they have socialized medicine.”
Speaking of Costa Rica, I hear they have some excellent hospitals there, for paying customers (i.e., Americans).
Assuming our dollar has any value when I retire, I expect to be calling on them quite a bit (well, hopefully not).
Jim just woke up. He's been dreaming he's in a socialist utopia where the state will take care of him and his wife because there is no more important person in the world... at least his world. Jim hasn't yet connected the dots. He just woke up.
Private hospitals are fine and compared to the US their fees are modest. I certainly would recommend them.
Karma is a “sunny beeeeeech”

Yea, even Rush talks about it. I think that will be our next phase of health care. The formula is so simple. You get world-class surgeons, but local nurses and other support. You get rid of the lawyers and the insurance forms.
And that’s it...not hard to do. Back in 90s, when Hillary care was about to hit, I was convinced that Mexico would figure out the formula and make a killing on it. It’s certainly a lot cheaper for most Americans to make it to Mexico than CR...and it’s practically free for people near the border. But Mexico, I guess, didn’t want to wait any longer, and found another line of work (LOL).

Canada isn’t quite as far along that road as the UK but you can see it creeping closer....
No, it is only coming here for us peons. The ruling class who brought this about along with the unions and the other thousands of special class exemptions have made sure that obominationcare does not apply to them.
