There is a video from the inside of that building at the beginning of the fire that I have seen several times during FD training exercises that does not appear to be available on You-tube etc.
Yes people did panic. Yes they did pile up at the exits. Most tried to go out the same door they entered despite the others they passed on the way.
The foam sound proofing burned and spread -shockingly- fast.
Panic was just a small part of that tragedy.
Such a situation is the worst time to panic. The media trains panic and fear -— it draws viewers. Mob rush behavior. Not just using it — training it. “Ad Demographics”
On that night ... They piled up IN the exits, because they panicked. Many would have died anyway. But more would have survived had they had not been trained to behave emotionally like a mob to upsetting situations.
Even one life saved by lack of panic is priceless.
Did they show the video of the Bradford City Fire at the soccer stadium in England, that happened back around 1985? It’s still on YouTube as I recall.
Craziest thing I ever saw, the whole stands are going up in flames, and meanwhile the supporters in the middle of the pitch are cheering and chanting.
