I really believe they were planning on the Volt and rebates from taxpayers bailing them out but there's every sign the Volt will bomb

No there are NOT signs the Volt will Bomb and every Volt coming off the assembly line is sold. There are no Volts setting around Chevy dealerships. Don't believe it? Then do to a Chevy Dealer nearby and see if you see any of them setting around? They are picked up the same day as they are sold. Most of the Volts that will be produced were sold earlier and that's why the sales numbers are not huge. But remember that GM said that they were only going to make 10,000 units in 2011. That's the plan all along and they will all be sold.

I think Jaz’s point is that the Volt has been shown to be a bomb and especially in cold weather.

I think his other point is that the administration and GM were promoting the volt as the car of the future here now.

IOW, they were insinuating that it would be a sales leader.

Whether their first year run was limited numbers is not the issue. The issue is their giving the impression that Volt was their big splash in the car market.
