NH GOP leader calls bishop a ‘pedophile pimp’
Boston Herald ^ | Friday, April 1, 2011 | Associated Press

CONCORD, N.H. - New Hampshire’s House Republican leader says Roman Catholic Bishop John McCormack is a "pedophile pimp" who should’ve been led from the Statehouse in handcuffs after speaking at a rally criticizing the budget.

Rep. D.J. Bettencourt of Salem posted the comment Friday on Facebook in an apparent reference to McCormack’s tenure as head of the Manchester diocese during the clergy sex abuse scandal.

In 2002, McCormack averted unprecedented criminal charges against the diocese by agreeing that it had harmed children by moving abusive priests from parish to parish.

Bettencourt later said that while his language was colorful, he stands by the sentiment.

A spokesman for the diocese says Bettencourt’s comments are false and detract from the real issue — the state’s obligation to care for the poor.

Where does it say in the gospels that the state is obligated to care for the poor?

Where does it say in the gospels what care of the poor is other than feeding, and clothing the poor as well as not dispossessing them of their property?

...the state’s obligation to care for the poor...

I'm really tired of Catholic clergy trying to influence how my tax money is spent--especially when it comes to illegals.

Why I left the Catholic church. They are social justice marxists - especially in New England.

As a proud RC, I think sometimes of St. John Chrysostom's words when I read assertions like the one above: "The floor of hell is paved with the skulls of unfaithful bishops."

The Church puts her obligations on individuals. Officials of the state have the obligation to govern without regard to whether one is rich or poor. That is simple justice, and is how officials care for the poor—because, under most systems, the rich can buy their verdicts, and the masses can threaten officials to obtain their unjust ends. In Jerusalem about 2000 years ago, there was a notable instance of this in the early hours of Good Friday. No one, rich or poor, has a corner of virtue.

Nothing in Catholic teaching has ever said that the state has the right or obligation to tax one citizen to transfer money to another. That is theft. As individuals, we have the obligation to privately give alms in accord with our means. The "widow's mite" was a moving moment in Scripture precisely because it was not a tax payment.

Just as the U.S. Constitution is not a suicide pact, the immemorial teaching of the Church is not, and never shall be the Communist Manifesto, certain bishops' dreams to the contrary.

“The floor of hell is paved with the skulls of unfaithful bishops.”

.
Go to the Garabandal site and read up what the BVM had to say to the visionaries in 1963 regarding some bishops and priests. (1963 is also the 2nd year of Vatican II)

Calling Freeper Pyro7480, please defend this bunch of flotsam called church leaders. The ones that aren’t marxists are queers. Church so-called!
The Word of God says that Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church not some bumbling, dottering old fool in a funny hat.

Back in the ‘60s,after their star turns at VaticanII, the bishops thought they were about to be accepted by the national elites. The came Humanae Vitae, and after that Roe.v. Wade. Then the Democratic party was taken over by the Progressives. The bishops struggled to regain their footing, Bernardin came up with a social agenda that intended to show that their hearts were in the right place. Ordinary Catholics went with Reagan and John Paul II. But for a time, the bishops’ conference put out paper after paper that looked by stuff from the DNC. Practicing Catholics, however, tended, more and more, to vote Republican. Then the Mexican invasion began, and all of a sudden, there was this emphasis on state aide to the poor. And I am thinking: with the billions that have been spent to pay for the transgressions of the homosexual priests that the liberal bishops ordained to fill the slots left empty by the departure of so many other priests, the Church could have fed a lot of poor people.

While I certainly disagree with the bishop’s political position, I think our elected leaders should be above using this type of language.

There isn’t a Church, Temple, Synogogue, or any institution for that matter which wasn’t infiltrated. I’m a Catholic and we’ve been working hard for years at cleaning house. Look at your own gardens first - you’ll find some of people you talking about in your midst - and that’s a guarantee!

"New Hampshire’s House Republican leader (Rep. D.J. Bettencourt of Salem) says Roman Catholic Bishop John McCormack is a "pedophile pimp" who should’ve been led from the Statehouse in handcuffs after speaking at a rally criticizing the budget."

lol. God, how wonderful if all Republican politicians were as candid.

Here's the story at Newsmax...

http://www.newsmax.com/InsideCover/RepublicanLeader-Bishop/2011/04/01/id/391514

"...McCormack was among about a dozen speakers at Thursday's rally to protest deep cuts to social services included in the House's $10.2 billion budget. Rep. D.J. Bettencourt of Salem took issue Friday, writing on his Facebook page that McCormack had no business urging lawmakers to protect the vulnerable, given his role in the clergy sex abuse scandal in the last decade.

Before being named bishop of Manchester in 1998, McCormack served as a top aide to Cardinal Bernard Law in Boston, where the Catholic sex abuse scandal began and where he was in charge of investigating sexual misconduct allegations..."

Wonder how long it will take the harping cry-babies to coerce an apology from Rep. Bettencourt?

The Chaplin at my old Prep School in Mass was a rump ranger, protected by Law. My son had him pegged when he worked for the Archdiocese, I was more amazed that they hired my son, a confirmed heathen, than the priest was a poof.

The US cardinals and the Vatican cardinals are aware of this??? And your pope is aware of this creep??? And they do and say nothing???

So this bishop then could become a cardinal (if things get too hot) and potentially become a pope...
