You can say what you want about GWB domestic agenda...but after 3000 people died on Sep. 11, what was he supposed to do? He removed the Taliban.

In Iraq, he acknowledged strategical mistakes and accepted the advice of Patreus with the surge...turned the whole thing around.

I am surprised by the uncivil tone of some freepers here.

In addition to protecting the country after 911, GWB appointed Alito and Roberts to the Court — two conservative jurists who will no doubt have a say in Obamacare.

So go on. Use profanity. Call him what you will. But GWB has more class than most. And I appreciate what he did for our country.

He removed the Taliban.

And that's where it should have ended.

Besides his spending, his failure to communicate a conservative agenda, his inability to use the bully pulpit to defend himself and his friends, his signing off on the financial bailout, and his role in the two wars that are helping to bankrupt this nation I think he did a fine job. As Barbara Bush said to Palin, I think the next Bush should go back to Florida, Texas, or Kennebunkport Maine. This family needs to be pulled out of the power circles even if you need to take away their walkers.

Thank you for that. I thought for a moment that by some cosmic mistake I got onto DU.

And Bush will go down as a great president, while Zero will hopefully just go down.

I agree. I saw Laura Bush on Greta last night, and their efforts to help the women in Afghanistan are noble. Of course the women in Africa and Central America, etc., etc. need help too. But Afghanistan is brutal towards them. But doesn’t Afghanistan have a lot of untapped oil?

That said, W’s abject failure on borders and immigration is inexcusable.

He did?

Who have we been fighting for last ten years?

Actually, the people got these 2 in. I guess you forgot about Harriet Meirs. That was Bushes choice. That's a RINO move that justifies who Dubya really is. We conservatives pushed her out.

Not to rain on anybody's parade, but his first choice for Alito's seat was Harriett Miers, and we know what a failure that was.

Dubya's a good man, but the culture as it exists now in Afghanistan will not change for decades, if not centuries. If the reason why we're there is to protect the women, then let's relocate them to a more civilized country. It will be a lot faster and cheaper than anything going on now.
