Bush warns of fallout from early Afghanistan exit (RINO attacks U.S. "isolationism")
CNN - Political Ticker ^ | 2011-04-01

(CNN) – Former President George W. Bush is worried the U.S. might pull out of Afghanistan too early to the detriment of that country's women.

In an interview with Fox News that aired Thursday, Bush warned that Afghan women will "suffer" should the Obama administration decide to downscale troop levels there.

"My concern of course is that the United States gets weary of being in Afghanistan and says 'It's not worth it, let's leave' and Laura and I believe that if that were to happen, women would suffer again," he told Fox's Greta Van Susteren. "And we don't believe that's in the interest of the United States or the world to create a safe haven for terrorists and stand by and watch women's rights be abused."

"We liberated Afghanistan from the Taliban because of providing a save haven for al Qaeda," he continued. "But I believe then and believe now we have an obligation to help this young Democracy to survive and thrive."

Bush's comments came the same day he and former first lady Laura Bush kicked off a two-day conference at Southern Methodist University focusing on women's rights issues in Afghanistan – an issue Mrs. Bush also championed when she was in the White House.

"Isolationism will end up subjecting certain people to horrors that I don't see how our country can live with that kind of decision," the former president also said.

The Obama administration has said that it will gradually hand off responsibilities to Afghanistan security forces as it draws down U.S. troops between this summer and the end of 2014.

If we stayed in Fubarstan for another 100 years nothing would change. Those people are beyond redemption so long as that satanic religion exists.

I think you and your cronies should STFU about Bush.

I would give my right arm to have him back in place of Obama.

The Rino crap in this forum is ridiculous,

I'll take a Rino in place of a liberal anytime.

You would not know a Rino if one bit you in the ass., homebody's Rino is another persons
conservative.

YES..I am a conservative, but I am smart enough to know we need all the votes we can get.

RS385, why don't you do us all a favor by sitting down and STFU

You clearly would not know a RINO if it was in the process of trampling you.

And the “young democracies” of both Afghanistan and Iraq based their constitutions on sharia law. The notion that all people want American style freedom and democracy is constantly being disproven in Muslim nations, but that doesn’t seem to sink in with W and others of his belief.

And it will be disproven several more times in most or all of the Muslim nations now experiencing anti-government protests. We want see any new “democracies” that very many Americans will be happy to see.

I support American Isolationism as a general principle. Intervention in other countries affairs is distasteful to me. I also believe in large numbers of nuclear tipped ICBMs.

History will judge both Afcrapistan and Iraq as not worth it. W can kiss my a$$ for leaving the borders open and calling me a bigot when I complained. The next big terrorist attack on the homeland will come from people who came in here on his watch.

We should remove our ground troops from all foreign countries.

We have the best air combat capability in the world. We should bomb the hell out of any country for which we have evidence is involved against our national security.

We should only use ground troops for LIMITED OPERATIONS where the locals will take over in short order.

Our people are much too valuable to send them in open-ended engagements.

I can’t get into the Bush love, either. He constantly lets Obama bash him, as he did in the Libya speech. He’s let the Dems constantly blame every ill on “the previous administration” (it’s long past the “the past eight years were terrible.” part). He says nothing about Obama and the Dems spending us into the poor house, which WILL impact the troops in the future far worse than we imagine. Not to mention the constant moral destruction on our troops (ROE, media attacks, failure to prosecute Maj. Hassan, women on subs, “open” gays, “military is too white”, etc). Where the heck is Bush on these issues?

GWB, why don't you do us all a favor by sitting down and STFU? You wouldn't even lift a finger to defend your own countrymen from illegal aliens and narco-terrorists yet you jump to spend your countrymen's money to defend foreigners.

And that goes for your newly adopted brother that many refer to as Bubba.

Bush was the worst Republican president in the history of the Republic. He has the record to prove it.

I forget, is the government controlled by the Taliban anymore? What was he supposed to do after 9-11, Doe Eyes? Bend over and in his best Jimmy Carter impersonation say “Thank you sir, may we the American people have another?”

Save your fire for Obama.

In addition to protecting the country after 911, GWB appointed Alito and Roberts to the Court — two conservative jurists who will no doubt have a say in Obamacare.

Actually, the people got these 2 in. I guess you forgot about Harriet Meirs. That was Bushes choice. That's a RINO move that justifies who Dubya really is. We conservatives pushed her out.

When you’re wounded and left on Afghanistan’s plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains
An’ go to your Gawd like a soldier.
Go, go, go like a soldier,
Go, go, go like a soldier,
Go, go, go like a soldier,
So-oldier of the Queen!

Rudyard Kipling

Kipling understood the “nature” of Afghan women over a hundreds years ago.. No Mr President, Afghan women aren’t worth one drop of American blood.

As former Army myself (101st Airborne:Cam Ranh, Phu Bai, Hue .. 1969-71) I find it truly disheartening to see or hear someone (you) who has FOUGHT for a persons (him) RIGHT to speak his mind tell someone to STFU!

Bush was Wrong in more than one instance and unlike the Obama-Bots .. a true ‘Patriot’ will support another’s right to disagree with him.
