Being a reality star is apparently worth more than being a Nobel-prize winning author.
And not all Rutgers University students are happy about that.
The universitys programming association booked MTV star Nicole Snooki Polizzi to appear at the Livingston Student Center in Piscataway, NJ for two question and answer sessions.
The price tag was a whopping $32,000, $2,000 more than the university paid for Nobel-prize winning author Toni Morrison.

$32 Grand for this gem:
Snooki offered advice to students in the session, telling them study hard, but party harder.
It’s a wonder we are even close to competing with China and India.
One small example of why tuition costs so much.
I guess this is an indication of how much value the Nobel Prize has lost since they gave one to “he who votes present” 0bama
Better Snooki than some Left Winger ‘Tard.
I wonder what the little snooks is doing with all of this cash she has been collecting for a while now.
I also wonder what is next after the snooks.
god help us and our children.
I had a friend at college, not that many years ago, who booked shows at the university. If a group was promoting an album, you could get two fairly well known groups for
$30 K or less. They were not huge names but they had videos on MTV back in the day.
Students paid for tickets to the show plus the public could buy tickets. He would sell enough tickets to breakeven. Snooki for $32K? What a joke.
I don't know about her intelligence level but so know she needs a make over if she is going to speak any where ..
I’ll second that.
She’ll be at this Sunday’s WrestleMania too- mixing it up with Trish Stratus against Vicki Guerrro (sp?)
Hmmm. Snokie is a Lindsey Lohan Wannabe.
The other individual is a writer.
Guess things haven;t changed much at Rutgers since I was there. Its still run by a bunch of idiots - very well paid idiots.

One of the funnest nights of my life at UF, was when we saw "The Outfield" play at one of the frat houses...good times....yep....good times.
Damn...if you’re going to cram that much meat into a sausage; use a bigger casing.
Oswald Spengler - paging Oswald Spengler...
My son goes to Rutgers - commuter student, no financial aid to speak of though we’re really feeling the costs - and this is more than two years tuition gone to a celebrity skank.
I don’t think my son even knew this midget trash was speaking.
What a waste. What a reinforcement of what’s wrong with our culture.
Not sure what's funnier. The media scorn that Snookie gets $2000 more than Toni Morrison or the fact that a major US University values them roughly equally.
I think Snooki is cute, and resembles Liz Taylor a little. Hey if Rutger’s gave me 32,000.00 for ANYTHING I’d consider myself pretty clever...heheh.
go Snooks, and remember the lesson of Tiny Tim...
That’s not difficult in this culture, for lack of a better word.
If you are a celebrity, or what passes for it nowadays, you can pretty much ask for anything you want and get it.
