Wisconsin Unions Get Ugly
The Wall Street Journal ^ | April 1st, 2011 | Editorial staff Wall Street Journal

Having lost their fight in the legislature, Wisconsin unions are now getting out the steel pipes for those who don't step lively to their cause. A letter we've seen that was sent to businesses in southeastern Wisconsin shows that Big Labor's latest strategy is to threaten small businesses with boycotts if they don't publicly declare their support for government union monopoly power.

Dated March 28, 2011, the letter is addressed to "DEAR UNION GROVE AREA BUSINESS OWNER/MANAGER," in Racine County. And it begins with this warm greeting: "It is unfortunate that you have chosen 'not' to support public workers rights in Wisconsin. In recent past weeks you have been offered a sign(s) by a public employee(s) who works in one of the state facilities in the Union Grove area. These signs simply said 'This Business Supports Workers Rights,' a simple, subtle and we feel non-controversial statement given the facts at this time."

We doubt "subtle" is the word a business owner would use to describe this offer he is being told he can't refuse.

They’re not “getting” ugly... They’ve been ugly a long time. People outside Wisconsin are starting to notice, and it’s news. Thanks Wall St. Urinal.

isn’t this extortion and/or RICO?

Also if police unions involved, civil rights issue. Too bad GOP is spineless and not competent to fight back in any mean. Even the union bill is in limbo.

“He’s sleeping down at the store tonight with a shotgun.
There’s been some monkey business going on.”

With Holder in charge, I wouldn't bet on the Feds upholding the law if it is not to their favor.

"chosen 'not' to support public workers rights"

This claptrap is the Talking Points from the DNC, when workers' rights REALLY mean free choice NOT to participate in Unions. Unless freedom to choose whether or not to join is allowed, workers have NO RIGHTS and their jobs are dictated and controlled by the Union bosses.

Unions, like Socialism, require a peon-populace that is dictated to as far as who gets what, and who pays, and who loses.

I would go into the businesses without such signs in the window and buy as much as I could.

Hope WI voters don’t submit to intimidation and finish what they started in Nov.

As a Cter, I have only sympathy for WI. Ct is owned lock, stock and barrel by the public unions.

“Enough is enough... “

Unfortunately it is not. The Labor Department and the Dept. Of Justice will do nothing, I have seen this tactic used time and time again against large nonunion construction companies. Unfair labor practices charges where against the union routinely dismissed. Its a rigged game.
