Solae and Campbell Soup no longer partnered with company using aborted fetal cells

LARGO, Florida, March 30, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – After the release of information yesterday on corporations partnered with a biotech company found using aborted fetal cells lines in food flavor testing, LifeSiteNews.com has learned that two of those companies – Solae and Campbell Soup – are no longer partnered with the unethical testing company.

Solae wrote LSN that while their company did sign an agreement with Senomyx biotech company in 2007 and is listed on their website as a partner, they have not been in partnership for over a year.

“This letter is to inform you that Solae does not currently have an active relationship with Senomyx nor do we have any plans for one in the future at this time,” wrote Media Relations Specialist, Jennifer Starkey.

“Our recent recognition by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the ‘World’s Most Ethical’ companies for the second year in a row signifies how seriously we take ethical business practices both at Solae and with our collaborative partners.  While we cannot speak to what Senomyx may or may not be doing to test food flavor enhancers, we can confirm that we are not involved in this for our products.”

Solae emphasized, “We live by four core values at Solae which include ethical behavior, respect for people, safety and health and environmental stewardship.  We take all of these very seriously, and expect the same out of our innovation partners.”

Children of God for Life, the watchdog group that publicized Senomyx use of fetal cells, and its relationship with the other corporations, in a press release yesterday, also subsequently learned from Campbell Soup that they very recently ceased their partnership with Senomyx.

“I wanted to advise you that Campbell Soup Company completed its relationship with Senomyx earlier this month.  We are no longer in partnership with Senomyx.  This fact was discussed during the Senomyx conference call with its investors earlier this month,” Juli Mandel Sloves, Senior Manager for Campbell Soup Nutrition and Wellness Communications wrote to CGL.

Senomyx boasts innovation and success in “flavour programs” designed to reduce MSG, sugar and salt in food and beverage products.

But what the company does not make public is that they use “human embryonic kidney cells taken from an electively aborted baby,” said Debi Vinnedge, Executive Director for CGL, the watch dog group that has been monitoring the use of aborted fetal material in medical products and cosmetics for years.

This whole thing sounds like a black-humor joke by MAD TV or SNL or (more likely) South Park. That, IN REALITY, aborted fetal tissue would play ANY role in food science is appalling. That the role it played was only flavor-related is unimaginable.

The big shock isn’t that this was being done; the big shock is that somebody actually thouht it would be a good idea to use human body parts for food flavors.

Didn’t anyone at the meeting raise their hand and suggest “you know, this may not be a good idea”?

Later on the article:

After three letters, Nestlé finally admitted the truth about their relationship with Senomyx, noting the cell line was “well established in scientific research”.

Pepsico wrote: “We hope you are reassured to learn that our collaboration with Senomyx is strictly limited to creating lower-calorie, great-tasting beverages for consumers. This will help us achieve our commitment to reduce added sugar per serving by 25% in key brands in key markets over the next decade and ultimately help people live healthier lives.”

This company use of aborted stem cells is one of the most sickening things I have read in a long time. Hell has a special place for the demonic demons that are involved with this at this company, and for the power-that-be that run this company.

I had to read it twice to make sure my mind wasn’t playing tricks on me.

Kinda like when you’re reading something really fast or skimming and your brain just inserts words where it thinks they belong.

There appears to be no boundaries for these “scientists”.

Nothing is off limits, soylent green is just around the corner.

And I used to truly believe Soylent Green was science fiction, not science fact.

If the use of aborted babies have helped developed the flavor of your drinks, then who knows if they are actually used to enhance this flavor in today’s market?

You have to read the article to understand what is going on here. They aren’t using the body parts for flavoring. What they are doing is using the fetal cells to create what is essentially an “artifical tongue.”

The artifical tongue has taste receptors (just like your real tongue), and they can measure when the taste receptors are activated. This allows them to “test” how different flavor combinations might work.

In essence, they have used human body parts as the basis for an articial device.

I don’t think they have thought the implications through. When human body parts start being used for industrial applications, it turns the human into just another parts source.

Movies like “The Island” have looked at this idea (where some humans were designated as non-human so they could be a supply of body parts for others), and it’s pretty scary. Given humaity’s historical ability to de-humanize other humans (from human sacrifces to slavery to battles to the death for entertainment to abortion), it would be easy to see a time when we have a group of people designated as “human” with full rights and others designated as “non-human” without any rights so they could be used as a source for industrial materials.

And it starts out with little things like “taste testing machines” created from aborted human embryos.
