The Final Days of the Glenn Beck Phenomenon?
townhall ^ | 3-30-11 | Rachel Alexander

Posted on 03/30/2011 7:26:36 AM PDT by Mozilla

The mainstream media has been reporting with glee that Glenn Beck may be leaving his Fox News show for a web-only show or his own cable station. Beck’s detractors are hoping he is imploding and this is the end of his superstardom in politics. There have been signs of friction between Beck and Fox News, and the network will not confirm whether his contract will be renewed in December.

The left is terrified of Beck. He has become one of the biggest leaders in the conservative movement. His enemies have responded by trying to force him out of his Fox News show. The far left group Color of Change organized a boycott of the show in 2009 after Beck called Obama a racist. The group claims that 300 advertisers have left.

[snip] Some Christian conservatives have kept quiet instead of defending him because of his Mormon faith. His theological differences with mainstream Christians occasionally surface on his television show.

[snip]

The Glenn Beck Show has become one of the top cable news shows in just a few years. Unlike other prominent conservative talk show hosts, Beck educates his audience about our country’s history and philosophical foundations. He has figured out how to do so in a way that appeals to even our younger generations with their shorter attention spans. He wisely puts on many shows discussing Tea Party concerns that have become front and center over the past couple of years; hammering on the dangers of our expanding debt and deficits that risk economic doom if something does not change. He frequently lays into far left activists and exposes their seedy connections, unafraid to connect the dots when it comes to real conspiracies.

Glenn Beck needs to remain at Fox News or still be on somewhere where people can easily get him and in a way that keeps him attacking the left and making them unhappy and uncomfortable. He exposes the left daily.

With the exception of his ridiculing of “the birthers”, I like Beck. He just needs to put some space between him and the blow hard BOR. He also needs to ask Bill to show him the birth certificate that was sent to him from Obama.

Forgot to do a search... figured it wasn’t. Still I always see duplicates of articles. Either the only BS is losing Beck.

Yeah but it would be nice if he created a conservative TV news channel.

Liberals love to claim that Fox is pro-republican and conservative but it's not true.

Fox is in the middle and nonpartisan. Center. And after all the years with leftist liberal media such as CNN, NBC, ABC, PBS anything in the center appears "right-winged". It's all relative.

So we do need a right-winged news channel in TV. Preferable before the 2012 elections.

“birthers” is just a word to mock constitutionalists.

The only thing Beck needs to do is put BOR(e) at arms length.

O’Really has proven he is a mental lightweight that would NEVER do the level of research that Becks staff does.

I like Glenn Beck and am a faithful viewer.

I hope that he and Fox News can heal their differences (if they have any that is).

I hope that Beck can stay with Fox News as long as Fox does not impose programming suggestions on Beck.

I also understand that Beck has irritated many advertisers and that they left for some/various reasons.

I hope that Beck will continue to attract more advertisers as well as viewers and I do not give a rat’s ass that Beck is a Mormon (I am a Christian myself).

I believe BOR will be taping an interview with Trump this afternoon for airing tonight. I’ll probably actually watch as it should be interesting.

When Leftists complain about FNC they are referring to the opinion shows, which do lean right.

They apparently don't understand the difference between opinion shows and hard news coverage, which on Fox is indeed as middle of the road as you can find.

Or, maybe because they've been sucking up the leftwing network's spin for so long they think middle of the road news coverage is 'right wing'.

I agree that Beck seems to do a lot of intense research and investigation on the subjects he tackles and writes about.

Thank God we have someone that interested in politics to do just that.

There are very few willing to do the due diligence that is absolutely necessary to do that job.

In that respect, Beck reminds me of William F. Buckley.

Yeah that is true. A conservative news channel would be great to have so long as it can be where people can see it. Not like Fox Business or something like that buried to where some people have no access. But it would be great to have a conservative news channel to counter balance Fox news which tries to promote some left leaning people like Geraldo and Shep Smith and the such.

The problem with BOR is that he is all too willing NOT to challenge the progressive liberal dumbasses and assholes he has on his show. He let’s them get away with saying the most outrageous vile and disgusting things. I realize he is trying to be fair and to give them the benefit of the doubt but he leans too much over backwards in that regard and it frequently sickens me.

Some yes but now all. Look at Greta. Then Geraldo. It's center.

I do miss the Hannity & Colmes format though.

I suggested to them a long time ago when H & C was still on that Hannity do a solo show on weekends. When you have a dem vs rep type show it always helps the nonpartisan viewers see how looney the democrats are by comparing it with a conservative.

When I use to watch MSNBC they had the show called "Equal Time" (I think that was the name) with Oliver North vs The Forehead.

Remember that?

Just imagine for a minute what our knowledge would be if Glenn Beck was not doing what he is doing.

He is a patriot and thank God for Glenn Beck.

Yeh I notice old Ted Baxter hasn’t brought that up lately. I figured he would tell Trump that he’s already seen so Trump would shut up about it.

Never watched equal time, but I do remember Crossfire on CNN. I used to get a kick out of Robert Novak making Tom Braden's lower lip quiver with rage, or Michael Kinsley's bizarre inappropriate smile behind those coke bottle-bottomed frame he wore.

The early days of cable news.

They don't understand because to a leftie, all news is opinion. It is the opinions that make up the news - ask any journalism major today. They will tell you they are studying journalism so they can help "change the world.

What is going on here is along the lines of the leftie belief that conservatives are such ideologues that they vote against their own interests. Lefties are never ever to be measured on their performance, only on their stated goals.

Oreilly’s lapsed into semi-retirement. He’s too lazy to do his homework. His Islamic woman guest decimated him yesterday. The morning show with Gretchen, Brian and Steve is the same. They are all too often not prepared for what’s happened overnight and subsequently fill the gaps with silly and nonsensical trivia.
