Retired four-star Gen. Tommy Franks is lending his name and support to Senate candidate Michael Williams, a state railroad commissioner.
Williams is running in a crowded GOP primary to replace retiring Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R).
Franks, who graduated from Midland High School a year ahead of former first lady Laura Bush, led U.S. forces into Afghanistan and Iraq.
As a retired military man, I dont often get involved in political campaigns. But I decided that theres a race going on in Texas thats so important, that I just couldnt stand on the sidelines, Franks said in a statement. Michael Williams, my friend, is running to be the next senator from the great state of Texas. He provides the kind of leadership that I think we need in Washington to get America back on the right track.

Five years ago, I thought Cornyn was fine... now I will send money to a primary Challenger for him.
I’m going to have to dig out my Michael Williams T-shirt and start wearing it.
I’m on the bandwagon.
As a still commissioned Army Officer, I stand by Franks. OCS leads the way!
From here it looks like Mike W. has the lead. Cruz has been too quiet, don’t know squat about him. Williams got a good start with Tea Parties when Kay Bailey couldn’t make up her mind to shite or go blind.
How’s Williams doing in the polls (if there have been any)?
I’d be surprised if there were any polls this early.
