"Is there ever going to be a family that has two dads or two mums? Time will tell," he said.

Disney characters never have two living parents of any gender.

In the old days a lot of the younger cartoon characters lived with aunts or uncles rather than with parents--Nancy with Aunt Fritzi, Huey, Dewey and Louie with Unca Donald, etc. Mickey Mouse had a nephew or two.

I don't know if the idea was that the adult figure would be more interesting if dating (Mickey & Minnie) rather than tied down in a marriage, or it was prudery (so that the younger characters' very existence would not imply that the older characters had engaged in any sexual activity).

Bingo. As far as I’m concerned, Disney has been anti-family ever since Walt died. The overwhelming subtext has been ‘follow your inner-whatever’ and happiness is whatever and wherever that inner-dealy takes you. So far, it’s been centered on straight ‘love’ but the stories have been veering into territory about the nature of relationships and social structure. Most definitely brainwashing.

A notable exception:

Oops! I forgot, we're not supposed to mention that film. Never mind, y'all. ;-)
