This is why claims of support from various parties needs to be looked at with a skeptical eye. We need to go back to basics:
(Q1) How did the rebellion come into being?
(A1) Relatives of Islamists killed in a prison revolt (imprisoned after a revolt and an assassination attempt in 1996) staged demonstrations against Gaddafi.
(Q2) What is the background of the area from which the revolt arose - Darrah and Benghazi?
(A2) It is the scene of Islamist revolts against Gaddafi and the source of the assassins who tried to kill him in the mid-1990's. It is also the source of 84% of the jihadists who went to Iraq to kill GI's. Libya itself sent more jihadists per capita to attack GI's in Iraq than any other country on Earth.
(Q3) What happened the last time we backed Islamists against a Communist government (Gaddafi's regime, more or less) to the tune of billions of dollars?
(A3) The mujahideen graduated men like Mullah Omar and Jalaluddin Haqqani, who went on to found the Taliban with Pakistani backing, and sheltered and fed the al Qaeda terrorists who went on to stage the 9/11 terror attacks.
We were right then and it's right to help kill the communist muslim terrorist Kadhafi now.
