Michele Bachmann steals the show in Iowa
Politico ^ | 26 Mar 2011 | MAGGIE HABERMAN

DES MOINES, Iowa — Michele Bachmann served up red meat to the crowd at the Iowa conservative principles conference Saturday, slamming President Barack Obama as a Jimmy Carter retread, dissing the Mitch Daniels "truce" call for social issues, and saying she wants a "waiver" from the last two years of White House leadership. Talking loudly and waving her hands, a pumped Bachmann used a slide presentation of various numbers — the national debt, the cost of a gallon of gas two years ago the day before Obama took office, the corporate tax rate — to make her points and pull the crowd in.

Suggesting that Iowa caucus voters had the power to halt Obama, Bachmann wrapped up her speech by asking, "Are you in? are you in for 2012?"

"I agree with you!" she said as the crowd cheered, and added, "I'm in!"

The Minnesota firebrand gave the best-received speech of the potential 2012 hopefuls appearance at Rep. Steve King's conference and the crowd wildly applauded her brand of populism. It was a reminder that while Bachmann has been criticized for miscues in her public statements, there is a space for her to fill in the Iowa caucuses should she decide to jump into the race for the White House.

She called for a "fair tax" and said that the "current United States tax code is a weapon of mass destruction."

Michelle Bachmann was speaking on the Sean Hannity radio program Thursday afternoon, and was questioned by Sean Hannity regarding a presidential run, to which Michelle Bachmann stated that she would be forming a presidential exploratory committee sometime in June. Heard it with my own two ears on WTAX-am, Springfield, IL.

Michelle is playing the role of what they call in bike racing “The Lead Rider” who sacrifices themselves by jumping out early and drawing their teammate’s competitors. This clears the way for their designated teammate to win the race. This idea was expressed by Freeper dfwgator and I think it makes a good point.

Don't doubt you, but the “leak” preceded her announcement. Bad form.

Really pissant? Sarah Palin supports the Obama Doctrine? What exactly is the Obama Doctrine

To choose sides in a civil war that has nothing to do with our national security before knowing about the people you're going to replace the regime with.

Michele Bachmann. Sarah Palin. Herman Cain. Paul Ryan.””

Same here! I’d like to see Sarah endorse Bachmann.

Michelle Bachmann’s speech before the Iowa Conservatives Principles Political Action Committee was about the numbers. She began with some questions: Michelle asked, “Did President Obama correctly diagnose the problem with job creation?” “Did he have to correct solution with spending a trillion dollars?” “What’s his level of credability in job creation?” “Did the President correctly diagnose the problem with healthcare in this country?” She answers with the correct diagnosis: “It was high costs.” “Did he correctly diagnose the solution?” “He didn’t understand that the free markets would bring the costs down.” She asks, “What’s his credibility with Obamacare?”

What’s Zer0’s level of credibility? It’s about the numbers!

Zer0. That’s right!

I’d like to see a Sarah Palin Secretary of State

That's Bolton's gig. I want him to fire ALL of the commies and anti-American crap-weasles (and take the remaining employees to lunch in his Honda Civic...)

The only problem I have with this is no Congress-person has been elected President since Garfield.

Senators have a VERY hard time winning too...

That's why we need the republicans in Congress and possible candidates such as Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, Newt and the rest to come forward in the media with this information preferably on sunday a day before Obama is to speak.

This is important for America. But also makes them look well informed on the current events. The rebels we are supporting are Al Qaeda.

Tomorrow (sunday) our Congress and our GOP candidates should come out on all the news channels with these stories and ask questions that Obama and Hillary should answer.

1) Why did Obama seek to increase funding to Gafaddi to $1.7 million one month before we started bombing him?

2) Why are we destroying Al Qaeda weapons in Afghanistan and giving them air support in Libya?

this next one could be for Trump

3) Did Gadaffi find your birth certificate? If so, is it really worth a war to keep whatever's on that birth certificate from going public?

I'm sure other Freepers could add many better questions that should be asked on sunday the day before Obama's BIG speech.

What a dream it would be to go into the voting booth in the primaries and actually have a field of candidates that I want to vote for and have a hard time deciding because so many are worthy that I’d be happy with any one of them.

Your profile doesn't list a state. Maybe you're in NH or Iowa or SC and get a say. My state is disenfranchising voters entirely by moving us to a June presidential primary.

Most of us, if we want even a tiny bit of influence, have to "pay-to-play" through campaign contributions. Our votes are irrelevant.

I watched on tv. Its hard to get a good sense of the crowd - especially when the C-Span cameras seem obsessed with finding people with puzzled or distracted expressions. It just seemed they were easier to find during her speech.

I think she went on a bit too long and was a bit scattered in her presentation.

I’ll admit I’m biased, but I thought Cain was better than ever.

Thanks - that is exactly what I was wondering - the camera operator keys in on whatever his/her agenda is.... So you felt Cain did really well? I like him too.
