LOS ANGELES A high-profile charitable foundation set up to build a school for impoverished girls in Malawi, founded by the singer Madonna and fellow devotees of a prominent Jewish mysticism movement, has collapsed after spending $3.8 million on a project that never came to fruition.
The board of directors of the organization, Raising Malawi, has been ousted and replaced by a caretaker board, including Madonna and her manager, officials with the organization said Thursday. Its executive director, who is the boyfriend of Madonnas former trainer, Tracy Anderson, left in October amid criticism of his management style and cost overruns for the school. These included what auditors described as outlandish expenditures on salaries, cars, office space and a golf course membership, free housing and a car and driver for the schools director.

Yet another Celebrity shill. I wonder if this is a TAX-FREE org.
What could have possibly gone wrong?
What tickles me is that they publish the Trainer’s name but not her boyfriend who is the culprit!
But...but she intended to do well. What an entertainer-putz.
Kabbalah is such a fraud that I don’t know how they haven’t
been indicted!
Madonna gets screwed. There’s a shocker.
what is with this celebrity Africa obession? Why not give the money to poorer areas in Asia? They’ve proven time and again that they can powerhouse themselves out of poverty. Whereas every dime of currency, and every loaf of bread given to Africa is wasted. Botswana is the only African country I can think of offhand thats doing reasonably well. I could say South Africa as well but they seem to be determined to go down the tubes as quickly as possible.
Spent millions of dollars on nothing? Gee Madonna, I think you have a future in government. Just change the millions to billions and you’re in.
Why try to build a 4 million dollar complex at a site where the best buildings are glorified shacks? Only a liberal can spend that much money in a country where labor and materials are dirt cheap and have nothing come of it. At least it wasn’t taxpayer money.
Indeed. All the kids need is the equivalent of military huts. Here in this country, though, we build schools that look like palaces for kids who live in double-wides.
Do-Gooders ... Heaven help us all.
George Clooney got Malria hanging out in one of the Countries, I think it was Sudan or Chad (not sure).
I think they all jumped on the Angelina Bandwagon. But only Madonna actually ADOPTED. Oprah just paid for great photops. I wonder how her school is doing now? I wondered why she never used all that money for American Black Communities?
It’s easy to throw money. It’s another matter to bring some of the children in your own home.
At least Bradgelina put their money to good use. (sort of)
I’m still astounded at how fast the Japanese work to recover. Individuals using shovels and brooms to clean the mess from their own homes speaks volumes.
So, I take it this statement is blatantly false...?!
Statement from Madonna
By Raising Malawi on 01.11.11
Madonna, whose Raising Malawi charity has made substantial inroads helping over a million children orphaned from the AIDS epidemic in that African nation, is stepping up the pace considerably on all fronts especially in regard to her plans for building the Raising Malawi Academy for Girls.

I can't believe this guy would require gold card memberships, expensive cars, offices, golf club membership, etc. /s

These millions of funds -- donated by the Kabbalah Center and celebs like Tom Cruise and Gwyneth Paltrow -- were apparently lost in design fees, staff salaries, cars, and free housing and a golf course membership for Oponyo.
Raising Malawi, Inc. is a registered 501 c3 non-profit organization
Figures.
