WASHINGTON House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that President Bush lacks the authority to invade Iran without specific approval from Congress, a fresh challenge to the commander in chief on the eve of a symbolic vote critical of his troop buildup in Iraq.
(snip)
At the same time, she said, I do believe that Congress should assert itself, though, and make it very clear that there is no previous authority for the president, any president, to go into Iran.

President Bush wanted to invade Iran too? I never heard that. That would have been three countries at the same time period. I don’t believe this story at all.
That was Iran, silly
Invading Libya is ..... different
bump
Hey, Bush don’t need approval, just use Obama’a excuse. Iran could destabilize the world with its nuclear weapon which effect US, which mean Bush could bomb Iran whenever he wanted without approval
The left lacks any consistency, or any sense of fair play.
I watched as much Morning Joe as I could take this morninging, and they were all laughing and giggling about Obama not having any defined mission objective in Libya. It was all smiles, and happy talk. No sense of outrage. No cries that the President had gotten us into an “illegal” war. They didn’t even seem terribly upset that we’d likely be there a LONG time.
I cannot express how much I despise liberals. I used to think we needed their views for balance. No longer. If they disappeared this moment, the whole lot of them, we’d be much better off.
Fixed it for ya.
Where is the Dummie Head B***H NOW?
Her view is that women in power don't need congressional approval. Only true men like Bush do.
Oh, I’m sure this situation is completely different. /sarc
Gee...this was posted on another thread. I see a unified reason to impeach this Magic Muslim of a President don’t you?
In 2007, then Sen. Joe Biden appeared on MSNBCs Hardball and said launching an attack without congressional approval is an impeachable offense. This flashback comes on the heels of Obama launching an attack on Libya without congressional approval.
Biden said:
I want to stand by that comment I made. The reason I made that comment is a warning. The reason, I dont say those things lightly, Chris, youve known me for a long time. I was chairman of the Judiciary committee for 17 years or its ranking member. I teach separation of powers and constitutional law. This is something I know. So I got together and brought a group of Constitutional scholars together and write a piece Im going to deliver to the whole United States Senate in pointing out the president has no Constitutional authority to take this nation to war against a country of 70 million people unless were attacked, or unless there is proof that we are about to be attacked. If he does, I would move to impeach him. The House obviously has to do that but I would lead an effort to impeach him. The reason for my doing that- I dont say it lightly, I dont say it lightly.
I am not writing this to cause a flame war.
I just want to get feedback from freepers, who I consider to be the most educated people online.
1. In my mind, I can only fault Obama for the way he got into this war. I think it is unconstitutional.
2.I do not think that I have disliked or feared a president more than I do him.
3. However, he is my president, and as such, he has access to more military intelligence than I do. He has made this decision and I feel I must support him as I would any president, Democrat or Republican.
4. War Strategy:On the news last night, I saw a segment that showed Gaddafi at a rally exhorting his people to fight the infidels. Why did we not have a drone in place to just kill him?
Thanks in advance for everyone’s input.
I understand your thoughts here but I'd like to remind you that under ordinary circumstances your thoughts on a President having military intelligence that we don't make perfect sense. In the case of Obama, you need to keep in mind that we've already been apprised of his lackadaisical approach to military intelligence and strategy meetings; arrives late, sits on the couch reading his blackberry and laughing AND he barely took time away from his Rio vacation to even notice he was sending our boys and girls into battle.
Obama is not your President. He's the Muslim Brotherhood's operative.
Highly illegal.
“In the case of Obama, you need to keep in mind that we’ve already been apprised of his lackadaisical approach to military intelligence and strategy meetings; arrives late, sits on the couch reading his blackberry and laughing”
Do you know where I can access that article? He has always seemed callous to me.
“Obama is not your President. He’s the Muslim Brotherhood’s operative.”
That would definitely explain some of his decisions.
“Highly illegal”
Even if we are at war?
I know that, I for one, cheered when my hero Ronald Reagan bombed his tents.
Late to meetings

“He plops down on a sofa, leans over and claps another guy on the back asking how hes been. Apologizes for being late, says he was held up. He laughs some more. The meeting begins. After just ten minutes, during which time the president appears to almost totally withdraw into himself, an aide walks in and whispers something to the president, who then nods and quickly stands up, shakes a few hands and tells another aide to update him later on the rest of the meeting. As the president is walking out he is laughing at something yet again. He asked no questions of those at the meeting not one. He left after just ten minutes, coming in laughing and leaving laughing. His behavior during that brief time he was there was described as borderline manic.”

“President Obama catches Obama playing video games on his secure blackberry. Aides reports that sometimes even meetings. They sometimes see Pres. Obama distracted trying to win in his blackberry device.”

Thanks for the links. Astounding and scary.
You’re welcome. It is very scary!
Make it very clear that there is no previous authority for the president, any president, to go into Iran.
Well one thing for sure Bush wasn’t above the law unlike Obama.
