Detroit's population plummeted 25 percent over the past decade amid an economic downturn so severe that Michigan was the only state that failed to gain residents, according to 2010 Census data released Tuesday.

The statistics show that the once-mighty Motor City's population dropped to 713,777 last year, from 951,270 in 2000...

Detroit's population peaked at 1.8 million in 1950, when it ranked fifth nationally.

One little gem that should not be overlooked: the Hispanic population increased. I’ve often posted on other threads how they are displacing blacks in the workplace, schools, and even prisons; I guess I’ll add “Detroit” to that list.

The significance of even that slight increase should not be underestimated, either in Michigan or the nation as a whole.

It looks possible after all. There are several solutions.
One might have to stretch into Pontiac, or eastern Washtenaw, or southern Macomb.

Based on similar migrations, I’d guess that wherever they moved to another exodus is taking place. The tax base there isn’t long for this world, either.

Don’t tell Debbie Schlussel. She’ll insist your are crazy and just spreading rumors about her hometown. Then she’ll do everything in her power to publicly impugn your intergrity so you won’t ever do it again.

I say this because she went ballistic on the series of video reports that showed us just how bad it was there.

...the fact that you all reelected her.

No, Me and CrippleCreek would never vote for anyone like her. The UAW, SEIU, MEA, and the welfare queens in Detroit, Flint, Saginaw, and Bay City re-elected her.

....but, strangely, the voting rolls has increased steadily to 1.2 million.

Gov. Snyder has a plan for Detroit. Wipe it out. He will reduce the money from Lansing by 34 percent. The other 66 percent will only be given to Detroit if they meet certain criteria. I doubt they will meet that criteria. If they don’t the Governor will then appoint a Caretaker for the city. After that happens he will chop it up and sell it off until it is the size that it can self support.

Snyder is coming to this budget knife fight, with a flamethrower, a tank and a battalion of Marines.

“I still have a hard time grasping that these people reelected Granholm. But I also still have a hard time grasping that we elected obama.”

I’d be willing to place a wager that if Kwame, the jailbird felon, were allowed to run that the city would vote for him. Detroit residents are a special class of people....

Now, with this flight from the city that brand is bringing their crap with them.

amne up with a bumper sticker idea just a couple days before Grandstand won re-election. “A Vote For Granhold is a Vote For Lighter Traffic”

I haven’t had to drive in Michigan Rush hour since December 2010 since I got blown away and moved out of state.

Probably no need anymore to make a “Michigan Left” driving in Detroit.

Yet another example why Communist progressives must be relegated to the dust bin of history. And why their policies must die. Lest we are all to be doomed just like Detroit. Detroit can serve as a valuable lesson to the rest of the country. It has been the perfect laboratory for leftist policies at work. http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/scrowder/2009/12/21/is-this-the-future-of-america-detroit/

I work in Cleveland, we can’t find qualified people to fill the job openings we have because no one will move here.
