HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) Pennsylvania Republicans, who now control both the state House and Senate, have begun a new effort to require photo IDs for voters at polling places.
As the House state government committee held a hearing on a voter photo ID bill, the ranking Democrat on the panel, Philadelphias Babette Josephs, said with all of the major issues facing the state and the country, people may be especially energized to vote, Now, it seems to me, is precisely the wrong time to start making it more difficult for people to vote.
Delaware County Democrat Greg Vitali expressed fears that it would disenfranchise some voters, particularly in urban areas like Philadelphia, Poor people, people who are not of the world of drivers licenses and credit cards.
But a senior legal fellow at the conservative Heritage Foundation, Hans von Spakovsky, cited a study by the Universities of Delaware and Nebraska-Lincoln, At both the aggregate and individual levels they found that voter ID laws do not affect turnout, including across racial, ethnic and socioeconomic lines.
Five years ago, when Republicans also had control of both chambers, a voter ID bill passed but was vetoed by then-Governor Rendell

There was a precinct in Philly that had a 104% turnout and every vote counted because the claim was made that since they couldn't prove which 4% were fraud, they all had to count.
Should the GOP pass this law we can expect Eric Holder to swoop right in for the kill. I will encourage legislators to vote for it. We have university students double voting. They vote at home and in person. I would like to see that crap stopped. Double voting was a real issue in the Gore /Bush presidential. Florida snowbirds from NY amd NJ were the problem.
If this is to meet requirements of Real ID Act, kill it. Among other things, it requires you to have an international - not US state - drivers license in order to travel on domestic planes and trains. So to visit my daughter in Philly, if I go by train, I can’t get on a train in the “Joseph Robinette Biden Train Station” in Wilmington, DE and get off at 30th Street station in Philly without a ID Card!
Bull, Bulls&%t!
Better get state patrol officers to tail the dems in the state senate and intercept them as they attempt to flee the state.
Don’t you need a photo ID to cash a Welfare check?
You can not enter the security area of any airport with out photo ID, you need photo ID to cash a check, your photo is required on your drivers license...photo ID is almost a total MUST in this crooked nation so lets get PHOTO ID to VOTE...
Big agreement to that, SueRae.
Ping to Trib and Kid.
No offense but that is an peculiar question to ask a FREEPER. Try a typical Philadelphia Democrat.
Ping!

Not only enforcing the law, but sending the thieves—and that’s what they are—to jail would be an excellent move too.
I work part time at a convenience store and nobody even blinks when asked for ID to buy cigarettes! And we have to card anybody who looks 30 or under, even though the legal age to purchase tobacco products is 18. So what is the big deal about showing an ID for something as important as voting?
Well...we ALL know the answer to that, don’t we?
It eliminates fraud, which would put the Dems out of business!
In the last four cycles there have been more votes than voters in Philadelphia. I don’t know how their going to enforce this when numerous polling locations are in union halls, bars, and people’s basements. Voter fraud has been killing us in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia is always the last ones to tally the votes. Surprise. Surprise. Philadelphia has been deciding the National elections.
