Bloggers use son to attack judge in union bargaining case

Madison -- In a sign of how contentious the struggle over Gov. Scott Walkers union bargaining law remains, conservative bloggers are using a Dane County judges son to criticize her ruling against the measure.
**SNIP**
But conservative blogs have been noting that Sumis son, Jacob Sinderbrand, worked in the past for labor unions and questioning whether that could in some way influence Sumis judgment.
In a brief statement, Sumi dismissed the criticism.
"My kids are adults, they are independent, and they lead their own lives. I do not consult my family about my decisions," Sumi said.
In a brief interview Monday, Sinderbrand also dismissed those criticisms, saying that it had been more than two years since he had worked for the Service Employees International Union and the AFL-CIO.
I have no current affiliation with any of the unions and I dont depend on the unions for any of my livelihood, Sinderbrand said. I think that has no bearing on the case. My mom did not consult me on what her decision would be and I did not advise on it.
The state Code of Judicial Conduct says simply, A judge may not allow family, social, political or other relationships to influence the judge's judicial conduct or judgment. The code also notes that judges should avoid situations in which family members including children have a financial stake in the outcome of a case.

He swears his AFL-CIO and SEIU work has nothing to do with the price of unions in Wisconsin, but he pulled the site anyway.

How do you get to be a judge with a name like “Sue Me”?
Kids should be off-limits.
OMG. Whomever is keeping the list, please put the ilk like this at that top. Thanks in advance.
How is she supposed to make her adult son do anything? Is she supposed to step down because of what her adult child does?
And if she is, are you willing to apply that standard equally to Republicans?
Ethically, she knows that there is a conflict of interest and not rule.
Simple
I suspect that leftist organizations have lists of judges who will favor their side. In Los Angeles Federal Court, many years ago, leftists would file the same complaint over and over; then when the matter was assigned to a favorable judge the remaining suits would be dismissed. In this fashion the lefties avoided the rules prohibiting forum shopping. The stupid judges were warned many years ago that once they become politicized the judicial branch would lose the peoples respect and eventually be destroyed. The judiciary is well on its way to destruction.
Also contributions from Sumi’s husband: State-level contributions for Carl Sinderbrand from 2006 through 2010: Tom Barrett, 2009-2010, $1100; Jim Doyle, 2009, $400, Dave Hansen, 2008, $250; Jim Holperin, 2008, $250; Robert Wirch, 2008, $250; Shirley Abrahamson, 2008, $250; Louis Butler, Jr., 2007, $200; Linda Clifford, 2007, $200; Kathleen Falk, 2006, $375; Peg Lautenschlager, 2006, $200. A leftwing household.
Take her off the bench.
Just pass the damn thing again in its; entireity and be done with it. They will try to stretch this out til the recall elections.
Simple
Not so simple at all. At some point, we have to trust their ability to be impartial, which is why who we choose to sit on the bench is so incredibly important.
I'm thinking of Clarence Thomas and his wife... she works with and derives an income from a group associated with the Tea Party.
Should Justice Thomas stand down from any case involving the Tea Party? Politics? How far do we go? And what do we do when the judge says that he can be impartial?
I can see removing a judge from a case if they've personally derived an income or worked on a specific cause, but an adult child? How far do we go?
She had a leftist agenda all along, that she passed along to her kids. He didn’t become an AFL or SEIU operative by accident. Apples don’t fall far from the trees.
Rather than the family connection, her own ideology is at the bottom of her decision.
While there may be no conflict of interest I think most judges would want to avoid even giving the appearance of one.
Most black-robed Lefty clowns are COMPLETELY political animals. I've been following the issue for YEARS here at Free Republic.
Who knows what lurks in the heart of compromised judges?
Who knows what lurks in the heart of compromised judges?
What am I missing? Why should Thomas recuse himself from consideration of Obamacare? Kagan definitely what is she going to say “Wow, my argument is great, I agree with myself.”
