I guess the problem is that it took so long for so many to catch on to this anatomy lesson. I am still slightly taken aback by the ease at which we all discuss this, uh, situation in such terms.

At the risk of unfair stereotyping; Libya does seem like a "woman's war"; insofar as it's supposed to be a "humanitarian" war. Q'Daffy was said to be slaughtering civilians (ignoring the heavily armed, but uniform-less rebels, who were attacking his regime) & that was cited as the casus bellum. A stereotypical "men's war" would have to involve something more -- external threats, for instance.
In addition, the war was sold to the public on the basis that it would just involve creating a no-fly zone. As if a no-fly zone could be created without breaking any windows; or as if preventing planes from flying would be sufficient. Only someone with no military experience -- even including armchair generaling -- would believe that.
