Why can't we just let the Libyans fight it out (...and then make friends with the winners)

How is collateral damage murder? Accidental death is not murder. We all die sometime.

Because some people cannot keep their nose out of other peoples business. And some are desperate to raise the permanent vacationers poll numbers.

Even if it were our job to rid countries of dictators who threaten people Libya at this time would still be a mistake given that next door there in Egypt we have no idea who the new occupants will be to fill that vacuum. Common sense says do not open two vacuums next to each other.

If it were our job to topple dictators, it seems like Iran should have been next. After all, we have military operations and bases already close by, the people have been asking for our help for a long time now and for some reason we ignore them.

This tells me that we are bombing Libya for some other reason other than what we're being told. Perhaps Gadaffi knows something about foreign campaign money? Perhaps Obama felt demeaned being called "son" by Gadaffi. But this is in no way nothing to do with national security.

But it has to do with national security now. We cannot stop this until Gadaffi's dead, his government toppled, and we baby-sit Libya until the vacuum is filled. Short of that? It will be a national security issue that was not an issue until the bombing started last night.

Okay wita, take a breath. Those little cutie pies in the buntings are not the problem. Their parents are the problem. Don’t be a hater.

Doesn’t matter if it is military or civilian. It is all murder.

That is not a fact, Jack. The author of “Thou shalt not kill” is on record.

Sticking our nose in other people’s business isn’t accidental or collateral.

There is a double standard at work.

And Ima calling bull****.

So, because genocide is going on in Dharfur, we should allow genocide to go on everywhere?

Why are armed radical Muslims more important to you and Obama than helpless Christians and Jews in Dharfur?

But the only way to get close enough safely to tell the difference, if any, is to kill them, before they kill you.

Anyone heard any plausible explanation why Russia or China didn’t veto this in the Security Council? Seems to me they were all too willing to let us proceed.

Why don’t you march on over and kill a few Libyans yourself. Doesn’t matter if it’s women and kids. Just do it. IT’S YOUR RIGHT.

Left alone, Gadaffi would unleash mercenaries and massacre thousands upon thousands as Eu /US watched.

That's how revolutions and civil wars go. It's a messy business. It's what these "rebels" signed up for when they picked their fight.

But let's address two other things:

1. Obama has said "regime change" is NOT the goal so he foresees an outcome where Gaddafi stays in power although Obama called for him to be removed a month ago. Huh?

2. Are you willing to accept this New Interventionism standard where we act on what might happen rather than what is happening or has happened?

Obama's a fool. When he said Gaddafi must go, he should've had a plan in place rather than waiting a month. Now we're half-in, without an endgame, and not acting towards regime change all while calling for it!

If Gaddafi isn't removed he will make good on retaliating against the attacking western nations. Maybe with terrorism. This was always an internal matter until Obama stuck his nose in.

Since he clearly saw no rush to act, evidenced by the month of dithering and waiting for UN approval, Obama should've asked for a Congressional resolution. While authorization might not be required yet under the "War Powers Act," it would've been in keeping with the Senator / presidential candidate's stated views on military action and authorization. Not only do we have a fool for a president, he's a hypocrite besides.

Fox News Radio reported Friday our forces would be limited to "logistical support" but a day later we're flying B-2 bombing runs and launching Tomahawk missiles.

I don't like this situation a bit. I feel like I'm being lied to.
