This oughta be an ongoing column here on FR—a real pulse of “The Folks” —no credit to 0’pinhead, of course—the comments in this thread here today really should be town square where all hands can get it off their chests, let it all hang out, and say yer piece—hopefully, someone will take this on—I can see it reaching the four winds of America!...

Great idea...what shall it be called? Some don’t seem to like the title I chose and fear we have given up on the USA...That is not really the point. The point is that if we don’t change things it will go downhill even further....Wake Up Sheeple!

My own Gunny G sites/blog provides me a full plate...but I would like to see this idea grow legs, and people would respond, I think, to its informal, off the cuff style as to their feelings, etc.

FR would be the perfect platform...if the “duty drunks” stay off each other’s backs.

My observation online, and talking to people in stores, the local bar, etc. is that there is fear, frustration, anger and frustration out there en mass, and they need an, again, informal source to vent...

I have been a member since before 1999 and have noticed much more sarcasm and one liners these days. FR used to be a forum for reasoned discussion of events both local and abroad. Some of the really good investigators no longer post although they may lurk. This has troubled me for some time now.

Whether they realize it or not Americans live in a constant state of fear every day. I’m not referring to the fears of everyday life like losing a job or having an accident of some kind, but rather a more sinister and devious fear; a fear that Americans only dare talk about around the water cooler or at cocktail parties so as not to be taken seriously; a fear they try to mask with a with a whimsical tone of sarcasm or indifference. Whether Americans want to admit it or not, it’s the single greatest fear in their lives: fear of the government.

Right about now there are those reading this thinking: Don Cooper is a drunk. To which I reply: what’s that got to do with it? Maybe more people should drink if that’s what it takes to sober up and confront what they are really afraid of.

In their defense, I’ll admit that reality is scary. No argument that living in delusion is warmer, safer, cozier, and easier. Pretending is always more fun than reality, that’s why we go to the movies. But fear of the government is a fear that invades a person’s soul and – since the government intervenes in every aspect of our lives – it affects every move we make every day.

Fear of the government is hard to recognize and acknowledge. It’s a fear that we are taught early on in life and to which we become accustomed. We inevitably end up tucking it away in the far reaches of our minds in order to function “normally” every day and live our lives. But just as a car backfiring will trigger a sense of fear from a shell-shocked veteran, so too can the State trigger that…

About the CWII Ping List

The CWII Ping List is short for Civil War II. It is NOT a list of people advocating another Civil War in America. It is a list of people who are interested in the parallels between the Civil War (or War Between the States, if you prefer) and our current situation, or more generally are noting the references to a 'coming Civil War' that are made in the press.

Of course sometimes this is merely a figure of speech, such as "The Tea Parties are fighting a civil war for the heart of the GOP". This would not merit a CWII ping.

On the other hand someone saying something like "The events in California are reminiscent of what happened in Yugoslavia in the period proceeding the Civil War" would merit a ping.

FR rules do not permit advocating for the overthrow of the Republic, and I am not aware of anyone doing so on the list. Still many do see that as the political climate worsens we may be heading in a direction that makes such a conflict all but inevitable, particularly if other avenues for resolving our differences are taken away. Such as widespread vote fraud by leftists making elections meaningless, or a small cadre of judges over-ruling all attempts to end destructive policies over the clear will of the people.

The correct keyword tag for the Civil War II ping list is "CWII".

Gold if for optimists and people with personal morality.

It assumes that you will continue to act in accordance with you beliefs in not violating others rights. Voluntary trade is the signature of a society of free men. Those holding gold and silver are optimistically hoping that we can retain, or return to, this ideal after a fall.

Most people I know who hold silver or gold also are 'preppers' in that they are stockpiling everything from medicine to bulk food to ammunition.

We have two interoperating cartels that I have organized. The inner-ring is those who are really serious and we cooperate on bulk acquisitions of things. We also have plans to retreat to a common location in the event of total system failure, with our extended families, who are slowly (according to their congnative ability) being brought into the plan.

The outer-circle is being given information about what is happening, and the opportunity to get involved in cartel group buys, but isn't part of the retreat plan.

It was a difficult process to decide who to include, much of it was based on perceived political views. While I have liberal friends, I resent that they are destroying our civilization, and feel it would be immoral to help save them. They are part of what must go through the fire of the coming chaos living their belief in government, multiculturalism, gun-free living and all their other libtarded ideas.

I know one fellow who's total plan for failure is to buy guns. I've tried to point out to him that implicitly this means he plans on becoming an outlaw to take the things he isn't prepping around. He did not disagree.

These are my thoughts on accumulating gold (or, silver really in my case).

The people around me wonder what is wrong with my attitude but I can't waste my time trying to persuade them anymore. I'm done and I don't care how much pain they are about to incur because their ignorance has sickened me to a depth I didn't know existed. I've never felt so disgusted in my life.

Same here. Now is the time to pick a side, and whoever is not on my side, the side of the principles of freedom as laid out in the contitution, it's time to say to them: "see ya in the next life". I'm done on a personal basis trying to make them see what's going on and am ready to break contact with them. It's time to save my energy and resources for those that are like-minded.

Our nation was a great nation in part because our founders established a Republic, not a Democracy. What are the two key characteristics of a constitutional republic? 1. The acknowledgement of God, and 2. the validity of His moral law as a basis of our civil laws. Our nation was founded on the Judeo-Christian ethic – on absolute morality, not relative morality. We can never restore the foundation of our nation without returning to biblical values – to the absolute moral values which made our nation great.

During the last half century there has been a cultural revolution going on in our nation in which there has been a decisive break with the shared meanings of the past. The break particularly affects those meanings that relate to the deepest questions of the purpose and nature of human life. Today, we find ourselves the hapless possessors of a culture unhinged from its Creator’s moorings. The foundations are being destroyed before our eyes. The foundations of our culture no longer provide coherent answers.

We are certainly not willing to hold illegal immigrants accountable, are we? With no fault divorce laws, we certainly don’t hold adulterers responsible to divorce, do we? We are certainly not willing to hold those accountable who have babies out of wedlock are we? If kids don’t like their parents for whatever reason they simply rebel or in some cases run away.

By losing eternity we were left only with the temporal. By losing morality we’ve destroyed conscience. By losing accountability we have settled at best for mediocrity or worse.
